These are crazily early days, but Nabucco is one of the more interesting recruits to look forwards to.
He’s a dual Listed winner, who stayed on very gamely to see off Red Galileo to win the Godolphin Stakes at Newmarket this week. Quoted in the RP, John Gosden said the son of Dansili will be going hurdling.
With very strong form on soft/heavy and a robust constitution that has kept him injury-free, he appeals as a type to do well over timber.
Whose hands will he fall into? Could he become a Supreme contender?
October 7, 2014 at 12:44 #491694Silver Conorde runs in a two mile maiden at Navan tomorrow, a race Weld won a few years ago with Hidden Universe.
October 7, 2014 at 18:03 #491701Mullins should have another strong hand in this. Allez Colombieres has been trimmed in a few places recently, and looks to be his number one.
Gaitway looks a nice prospect for NJH, winning a strong looking bumper in the spring – although the fact that he’s flat bred is a little cause for concern as the ground on day one is usually the good to soft at best.
Miles To Memphis of Alan King’s also won a decent bumper – the one at the Scottish National meeting won by Sprinter Sacre previously, amongst others.
I like an NH bred horse for this race now, we haven’t had a "speed" horse win since Go Native.
I’ll be watching Allez Colombieres (10s) and Miles To Memphis (33s) with interest.
October 8, 2014 at 08:00 #491719Loving the shout with Miles To Memphs Blunkett.
When King started training he had a regular runner in the Supreme, saddling consecutive disappointments between 2003-2005 (including My Way De Solzen).
Something must have clicked for the trainer thesedays more associated with juveniles than novices however as since 2005 he has had only three runners in the race; Wild Blue Yonder, Montbazon & Medermit, who finished 5th, 4th & 2nd respectively.
Yet to hit the bullseye, he’s definitely a trainer to look out for if he does target the race.
He seemed keen on this horse post race at Ayr and confirmed he’d be going over hurdles in the Autumn so based on his pedigree and the fact that there are currently no prices available for him in the Neptune you could be reasonably confident this will be his aim should he show decent progression. Plus both his wins to date have come on G/S ground with times that would back that up so given the usual state of the ground on the opening day he’d have no concerns.
Much better than taking a short AP price about a WPM novice with any one of three possible targets. Even if it did work for me last year

33s generally available.

October 19, 2014 at 22:52 #492949Pipe horse that romped home at Cheltenham in the bumper could be useful, providing he’s sent over timber sooner rather than later.
November 5, 2014 at 14:55 #494566El Namoose & Gaitway both entered in what could be an intriuging early season clash at Huntingdon next Tuesday.
Though Gaitway has been entered up in pretty much everything over the past week.

November 25, 2014 at 15:57 #496408My favourite race bar none.
Kind of like the bumper second last March Shanehill who’s returned this season and won a competetitive novice hurdle but still plenty for us all to see and think about yetNovember 25, 2014 at 17:36 #496427Mine too Jibsa.
Looking increasingly likely that Shaneshill will be aimed at the Neptune though.

November 25, 2014 at 17:37 #496428Allez Colombieres is a sea of blue on oddschecker. It’s entered on Thursday in a maiden hurdle, but also on Sunday in the Royal Bond. It’ll be interesting to see where WPM pitches him in. He’s obviously catching pigeons at home. A debut in a Grade One and victory could see him being 7/2 by Sunday evening.
November 25, 2014 at 18:07 #496434Mullns also has Nichols Canyon and another that really interests me; Max Dynamite entered in the Royal Bond.
Can’t get a price about the latter anywhere though and Allez Colombieres has headed the market all summer so given the strebgth in depth of the Closutton novices he must be doing something right at home.

December 1, 2014 at 17:22 #497106Desperately sad news regarding Allez yesterday. RIP.
December 3, 2014 at 21:04 #497315Nicholls Canyon for me, jumped very well and quickened up nicely
December 8, 2014 at 16:58 #497901"What price would it be if trained by Mullins/Nicholls/Henderson?"
Well what price would Nihcols Canyon be if he was not trained by Mullins? I’d argue he’d be shorter. The reason he’s 16/1 is because he was second string for the Royal Bond and there’s another Mullins horse at the head of the market in the shape of Douvan. The Royal Bond was very weak but he did it nicely and improved a lot from his maiden hurdle.
You therefore have to question how good the stable think Douvan is if he’s less than half the price after a maiden hurdle win.
December 9, 2014 at 10:53 #497951But Douvan would have played second fiddle to Allez before his unfortunate accident. Allez was 8/1 without being seen in public. Douvan was over double that himself before the sad death of Allez – and that was AFTER an impressive debut.
Either Douvan has improved leaps and bounds since his debut, or people are latching onto another Ricci horse.
Suppose we’ll know in three months!
December 9, 2014 at 12:11 #497962Although Douvan was 16/1 with William Hill before Allez C had to be put down, his price was generally between 9 and 12/1. There was little between them in the market and without Allez he has shortened because he is now a more likely runner.
December 23, 2014 at 16:56 #499328Sempre Medici entered over 2m at Kempton on Boxing Day, might be informative.
January 3, 2015 at 16:29 #500319Think we saw the winner at Sandown today. Striking display by L’Ami Serge, don’t think even Willie has anything to match that
