Afraid I know no more than the next man Gary. Mullins is hinting at the Neptune, probably because he has a very strong hand in the Supreme with Douvan, Shaneshill and Alvisio Ville, whereas he only (I use the word ‘only’ lightly!) has Nichols Canyon and Outlander in the Neptune. Of course Gigginstown have nothing else in the Supreme and they might want a runner there.

I do think Tell Us More will travel, but don’t know which race, hopefully the Neptune. Actually wouldn’t surprise me if Cooper chose him over Outlander.

Cheers, I think he will too as there has been far too much blue on odds checker this week :-)

If reports are to be believed he’s back working well but I’d still like to see some more money for him

Plenty of time for market movers though and I’m sure there’ll be a few plunges between now and Tuesday!

“I’ve had 400 on Douvan at 5/2. Ruby said he was the best horse he’d ever sat on”. This is what a mate said to me Saturday night. Did Ruby really say this

After a fair bit off study i’ve decided to pin my colours to the John ferguson trained horse qewy

I feel qewy is unexposed will love the quicker ground was a group performer on the flat.Quickened away from a good horse from the henderson yard which has bolted in since.

I just feel this horse might represent a bit off value with the mullins and henderson horse taking up a big piece off the market imo.

Well let’s put it this way: the 4th placed horse that day – Bouvreuil – had his 2nd start in Britain and if he felt more at home this time than on his debut, then Qewy’s performance is even more remarcable. Personally I am not a huge fan of John Ferguson, but this one looks very lightly raced, will love the greound and will also travel prominent with the pace. So why not, since I wouldn’t want to jump on the Mullins bandwagon at all!!!!

I have to agree with Cheltman . I cant have the favourite on my mind !!! The stats say this a bad bad race for favs and this time last year a certain horse won this race at 7/2 so 7/4 cannot possibly be value !!

The punster in me is tempted to say I’ll be on Qewy 2…it’ll cruise home

I’ve had a saver on Douvan and backed Lami Surge. The Irish favourite seems to have a rounded action that may not be best suited by good ground. Where as although Lami Surge won really well on very soft last time – to my mind has an action that may be better on good ground. Although it is not certain what the ground will be.

Surely the more water they put on the track the happier he’ll be?

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

What about a sporting bet on Bentelimar ? A form line through All Hell Let Loose puts him close to Nichols Canyon which was going to be half Bentelimars price so at 25/1 could be interesting

I backed Phil’s Magic (100/1) NRNB and was frustrated to see him win at Naas over the weekend. With him gone, I am giving the vote to Seedling.

Granted, I am placing a huge amount of trust in Warren Greatrex to get the horse to the race at 100%. Still, so long as the trainer fulfills that part of the bargain, I think Seedling is good value. The horse showed enough form for Charlie Egerton last season to finish midfield in an average Supreme and has clearly improved for his new trainer. His win over Some Plan was particularly impressive, if not for the winning margin, but for the total confidence of his rider in hunting down a good rival. I think Seedling is definitely a 150+ horse. He needs more to reach L’Ami Serge and Douvan’s level, but it isn’t out of the question.

I respect Douvan a great deal and think he deserves to be the price he is. Still, there are Seedling and L’Ami Serge whose form has not been too far distant from that of the favourite. I am just hunting for value and hoping for a merciful start for my employers!

I also respect L’Ami Serge and would probably back him on a flat track or on soft ground. He tends to become unbalanced and bungle his hurdles in top gear, so I just question whether Cheltenham’s undulations will find him out.

The Fry yard are in disarray with a virus breaking out, so you’d be brave to back Jollyallan right now.

The form of Shaneshill‘s bumper exploits could not be working out much worse and he just seems like the makeweight in keeping the Wylie novices apart.

Qewy has a strong chance on his win over Cardinal Walter, but did look a little quirky and has to defy plenty of trends working against ex flat racers.

A final one worth a positive mention is Sizing John, who Johnny Burke insists was not right when shellacked by Douvan. I fancied Phil’s Magic, so by logic I suppose I have to at least have a small each-way play on this one too.

I like Seedling too, though his course form is not a must according to the stats regarding the Supreme. Henderson has won it last in 1992 with Flown, so that is not exactly HIS race at the Festival and Ex-Flat racers aren’t also favoured by the stats. So therefore I will have another look at Shaneshill, Alvisio Ville and Tell Us More.
    Good luck to everyone!
