Died in the mares and fillies bumper at Taunton. A truly horrible sight with her leg all over the place. Only 4 years old. Something I’ll have nightmares about. Poor soul.
March 9, 2015 at 18:46 #821056Awful to see her trying to gallop on. Let’s hope she didn’t suffer too much.

March 9, 2015 at 22:34 #821412That is the worst thing to see poor girl, she didn’t understand what had happened.
RIP Star Sovereign you didn’t deserve to go this way as burroughill said hope she
didn’t suffer to much. :(Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 9, 2015 at 23:05 #821484My usual question, stil unanswered:
WHY DO THE MOST INEXPERIENCED HORSES HAVE TO RUN ON THE WORST POSSIBLE GROUND?
Bumpers are in over 95% of the time the last race of the card. Horses that have never seen a racetrack have to run through holes by the time race 7 or 8 starts.
It’s not racing in a third world country, though the ground sometimes looks like if were from there.Rest in Peace poor girl! No one will change anything about it, cause no one wants to!!!
March 10, 2015 at 06:50 #822273Putting your foot in a hole has got nothing to do with experience. It could happen to any horse. Better a flat race than the last race on the card being a chase or hurdle with even more opportunity for mishap. It was just a freak accident, nothing you could do to prevent it.
