In the Topical Racing Discussion forum, can’t Royal Ascot 2014 and TRF Awards sections be moved to the archive?I have done that for you.
I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...Humour and humanity sums it up very well. He’s got style. I could listen to him rambling on about Cheltenham for hours. He gets right to the heart of it.
I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...If Sam is 16/1, I’d say he’s worth risking a few bob on.
I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...I don’t think he’s terrible at all. He’s very affable and confident, perfect for the main presenting role. He doesn’t need to be an expert, and I’m sure he isn’t. The panel are supposed to be the experts.
I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...There are some commentators, Des Scahill amongst them, who’ll always tell us “both jickeys are on their feet” after a fall, but say absolutely nothing about the horse. Unforgivable.
I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...Gill ,,,,you are now officially a couch potato ..
….are you having a bet this year ???I’ve never denied it!
I’ll potter along to the races ftom time to time when a Leicester meeting clashes with a day off work, but you can see way more of what’s going on from your sofa!
I’m not interested in betting at all. I’m in it for the excitement and the horses.However….while I always have Cheltenham week off work so I can sit with my tea and biscuits revelling in it all, I’m going to miss two whole days this year *gnashes teeth* because I’ve got my 25 year M and S service celebration in London Tuesday and Wednesday. I’ll have to record it and catch up later in the week. Not a happy bunny!
I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...Supplemented for the Ryanair

I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...Back to the original subject, I too think it’s a shame when races lose their commemorative names. If a race is named in memory of a special horse, it should keep that name for posterity. If it does end up being sponsored hy a company, why can’t it still keep the horse’s name in the title? E.g. The Poundland Bula Hurdle
I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...I can understand your affection for any particular horse. I’ve become attached to many over the years, but particularly Burrough Hill Lad.
I can’t remember the exact details because it was so long ago, but my husband and I had a day out and we visited a restaurant at Burrough on the Hill for a cup of tea. All around the walls were photos of a racehorse, obviously BHL, but this was in the very early days before he had any success or was well known. I believe the restaurant owner owned him, but I can’t remember. Anyway, long story short, I decided to follow him to see if he did ok and well…..he did! I’d never placed a bet in my life, nor been to Cheltenham, so obviously I had to go when he was entered for the GC! My husband and I put £10 on at 9/2, but hey, the thrill of seeing the horse I’d followed from nothing win the greatest race in the country was worth way more than any winnings. Happy days!
I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...I’m 55 going on 75
I shall be watching from the comfort of my sofa.I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...What’s your connection with Bula? I just wonder why it’s such an emotive issue for you?
I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...Back: Hurricane Fly…that’s just my heart talking, but I do think he could do it……possibly.
Lay:Sprinter Sacre….just don’t belive he’s as good as he was.
Each way:Holywell….shoo in
I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...Well the whole of racing is based on educated guesswork anyway. Nothing’s a certainty.
I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...It was an impressive run, and it’s become automatic after every single bloody race at the moment for the presenters to instantly assume the winner and all connections will be heading for Cheltenham at an enthusiastic canter.
I’m getting sick of it.I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...Absolutely! Sad to lose such a lovely horse.
I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...I’d forgotten a sig! Thanks for the colour tip Steve
