It’s because us laidees are always buying clothes for weddings and suchlike and never get a chance to wear them again so it’s a good way of attracting non racing folk to the races. Why, having put on said glad rags they then have to get drunk as skunks is another matter. Alas, I can’t walk in the sort of shoes they wear even when I’m sober. Perhaps they have to drink to numb the pain.
I remember deciding at the last minute to go to Leicester races once, so I pootled along in tatty jeans and a t shirt, only to find it was Laidee’s Day. I did feel a prawn

I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...Terrific photos Nathan! What an awesome festival it was. Especially nice to see some of the old stars. They look in fine form.
I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...Is it a northern word for Huh.?

I had two messages in my PM box, and I selected one to delete. A message came up asking me if I’m sure, so I clicked YES, and it deleted BOTH messages! That’s probably something that needs tweaking.I have just tested this and it is working fine.
When you delete an message it will look as there no messages but, if you click-on Message it will take you back to your in-box and your messages should still be there.
You’re quite right. I stand corrected. Apologies.
I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...It’s the verbal equivalent of a shrug of the shoulders. I don’t have an appropriate smilie to illustrate the point but this

I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...Good ol’ General Tufto at Southwell. Sometimes he has a going day and sometimes he just can’t be arsed, but I love to cheer him on.
I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...I tend to take over the staff lounge tv on Saturday afternoons during my break, and the comment is either:
“I didn’t know you liked racing Gill?” said with a puzzled grimace
“Which one’s going to win then?”
“Have you had a bet?”
Or
“I don’t like the way they hit those poor horses”.I know none of those are particularly interesting, but I’ve been there 25 years and the comments rarely vary. I did work with a manager once who used to bet daily and knew WAY more than me, and I’d feel very inadequate when he’d discuss all the form etc. with me.

I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...You can untick box: “Keep a log of this edit” if you wish.
Interesting. I hadn’t noticed that.
I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...I’ve certainly got used to it, and have no major complaints, just minor niggles. The font is still tiny to me, but that may be because im using it on a tablet. I’m not keen on having my edits visible. That banner at the top is the biggest annoyance because it sort of jumps about, like, and I click on one forum only to find it’s jumped under my finger to a different one..
Overall, these are just niggles and don’t bother me much. I think Corm and his team have done sterling work getting it to the state it’s in now, and in time for Cheltenham.
I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...Wonderful result! So pleased for the Bradstocks and the Boingy chap on board. I love Carruthers
