I must admit that although I care little about the flat jockey’s championship, I do find myself thinking…”crumbs, is that still going on?” because they’re rabbiting on about it for weeks and weeks and it never seems to end.

I’m with you about Mullins. It’s slightly depressing and scary to have one yard dominate like that. For maximum enjoyment you want everyone to have a vaguely equal chance, with the little yards having a good chance too. You don’t want to see big money horses totally dominate, as tends to be the case with top class flat racing. Big up, the small yards and small owners! Big up the Gingearmy and their ilk! :good:

Exactly right Ginge. The balance was perfect imo. Even going through a fence can knock a horse’s rhythm and confidence and set it back, meaning the horses that didn’t touch a twig got their reward. It seems odd to me that people are advocating stiffer fences which would presumably lead to more falls and maybe more fatalities.

Better “should” have fallen than to be mourning the loss of several great old timers or rising stars. The best jumpers still won.

But that’s the key….there were so few fallers, which is surely a plus. While you’d like to see Cheltenham as a stiff test to sort oyt the real stars from the also rans, it’s vital from the publicity angle that there were as few casualties as possible. Thank goodness there weren’t too many imo!

Yes I was surprised nobody took Ruby on. But I suppose that’s easy to say with hindsight, and I’m sure the jockeys had their instructions. It would have taken a lot of guts and confidence to go against trainers instructions, plus would it have actually made any difference against such fantastic horses?

It was, for me, the best ever too.

Hope you enjoyed your 2 day jolly in London gill.. Thought today was superb… Long time since captain Christy.. Epic story then… Today was just as great..well done the bradstocks.. :yahoo:

Had a brilliant two days thanks. Good ol’ M and S looked after us very well, although I could live happily knowing I never have to see another West End musical. :negative: Even managed to catch a few snippets of the festival in the hotel telly! :good:
It’s been a truly memorable festival, for awe inspiring performances, and deserving smaller yards. The flat can never top that. Bring on 2016! I’ve already got the week booked off work :yahoo:

It was quite noticeable, I thought, how many of the winning rides led from start to finish.

I’d echo Vautour’s and Uxizandre’s win and add Coneygree. Not very original I’m afraid. An honerable mention for Sam TD winning the Ryanair. Great relief for him and the Ditcheat team.

All in all I’d say it was an epic Cheltenham with most of the ‘right’ horses winning, and some exciting new stars for the future, making the prospect for Cheltenham 2016 a mouthwatering one.

Do you know what? Never mind. It was a fantastic, epic festival, and I refuse to concentrate on negatives. :-)

I hadn’t realised what an amazing achievement this is for the Bradstocks, and what they have to contend with on a daily basis. Sara lives with a tracheotomy, Mark only has one kidney (you only have to look at him…) and their daughter battles gallantly with a damaged leg. What an example of mind over matter and determination to live life to the full.

What about that? Absolutely awesome! I’m hoarse with yelling at the screen. That’s the blessing of not having a bet, you can just sit back and enjoy it. So glad Mullins didn’t flipping well win again :yahoo:
Great to have the fairy tale come true :good:

I do tend to agree with you Rickster. There’s nothing on the flat that can compare with Cheltenham. Brilliant, heart soaring, heartwarming, thrilling stuff. However, if you’re trying to compare it with the AW, you’re barking up the wrong tree. There’s plenty of dire jump racing too, summer or winter.
I still maintain that for any owner and or trainer, the thrill of winning is the same, whatever the quality of the race. Otherwise….why would they bother?

Best I have seen. And for the second year running the performance of the meeting for me, unless Coneygree wins by 12 lengths tomorrow ;-)

Simply stunning. He might replace Sprinter Sacre as the new superstar.
