Was there ever a last hurdle fall as dramatic as that, with so much money riding on it? Just glad Annie Power is alright; she still looks a super mare, absolutely left the rest for dead between the last two
March 10, 2015 at 18:57 #823125Even though I did the 4 horse accumulator today I’m glad Annie Power got away with that fall at the last, she is a fantastic mare.
I’m glad that Glen’s Melody took the spoils she deserved her moment of fame.
The bookies always seem to come up smelling of roses don’t they
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 10, 2015 at 19:52 #823255Aye cost me £120 Jac but at least she is OK to win at the Festival next year
March 10, 2015 at 20:07 #823264I’ve yet to watch the replay but will be keeping an eye out for shady-looking bookmakers on grassy knolls.
March 10, 2015 at 20:55 #823372It was a horrible fall, but added some drama to procedings. So pleased to see she got up ok, although you’d assume she’ll be feeling a bit battered and bruised, and may have had her confidence knocked. The way she attacked that hurdle she hadn’t a care in the world. It may take a while to bring her back to that level again imho.
I'd like to live in a place where they cordon off swans...March 10, 2015 at 22:14 #823539Must admit I was gutted as like many others I was on the acc. She was better class than the rest and just a shame she fell. Hopefully she will be back soon. The bookies must have been happy though
March 10, 2015 at 23:19 #823720cost me a clean fortune, the acca, doubles trebles etc. glad shes ok. I’ve seen a theory doing the rounds that she tried to jump the shadow of the hurdle. have seen the pic of it too..
Hindsight is a beautiful thing, i’d love to tell ruby now to slow her down u have the rest beat and just get over the last. ah well
March 10, 2015 at 23:45 #823838We all moan when obstacles are by-passed, but today’s accident demonstrated that the dangers from the low sun are all too real. It wasn’t just Annie that jumped the elongated shadow, L’Unique did so as well and with the same result. Both falls were bad and could easily have been fatal.
March 10, 2015 at 23:56 #823907I agree, so glad she got up and lived to fight another day.
It is remarkable how even when we were all counting our acca winnings those ghastly bookies end up winning (my Betfred thread sums up the day I have had). But as usual that poor mans David Cameron, Williams was on cue this evening on the 10 O’ Clock News whining claiming that they still had a terrible day. Yes, sure they did!
I thought her fall was a bit like Ptit Zig’s at Ascot – where she took off a stride early. I wonder in situations like that the jockey is better off playing the percentages and booting his mount into the flight/fence?
