Good post from Maxilon 5.
C4 racing needs to bring racing to a wider audience, and, love them or loath them, that’s what Big Mac, Thommo et al do for the game.
As people who are already racing fans, we can watch Racing UK or ATR if we don’t like it.
I personally think that, despite its flaws, C4 racing does a good job (especially when compared to the patronising and woeful BBC), particularly Francome and Hoiles, who are excellent (imo, of course).
Similar to Underscore here.
I thought that there were too many doubts about SE, and was looking to oppose. However, seeing that he was above 2-1 on the exchanges, I’ve had a bet on him.
Fingers crossed, eh lads.
Needs to step up on his debut form for me Gaz, but he’s fully entitled to given the length of his absence and that it was his first run over the bigger obstacles.
Big chance, though beware the dreaded bounce.
An absolute cracker.
I like Dee Ee Williams for this – his form is just working out so well. Cockney Trucker has franked the form in some style, and even Bakbenscher (who was well beaten here by DEW) won this week.
Golan Way is the obvious danger, especially if allowed his own way up front.
Alfie Flits looks overpriced, and appeals each way at 14s in an eight-runner contest.
I fear I must be alone in my hatred of the Pogues tune.
I can honestly say if I could choose a song to be erased from history so I could never hear it again, it would be this.
To quote a line from the one of the greatest sitcoms of all time; "I would rather have a pineapple violently inserted into my rectum" (than listen to it)…
Sorry guys – had to get that off my chest!
Like your opinions ReasonoverFaith?
You were the one who brought politics into it as I recall….
What about those of us who are tired of hearing all the left-wing socialist nonsense?
Mr Ostermeyer makes a perfectly valid point about the unions in the context of this debate. If they are driving up the cost of outside broadcasts, this will make the BBC as a whole less likely to use them, and racing might suffer as a result.
I happen to disagree with trade unions in principal, but nothing in the above is political. The unions push up costs, harming take up of the end product – simple
Back to the BBC, I never watch racing on it because it is so cringemakingly awful. However, I wouldn’t have got into racing as a kid without terrestrial broadcasts, and this makes me worry for the sport’s future.
Let’s just hope that C4 fully take up the slack.
Once again I find myself agreeing with Paul; also good posts from Drone and Clivex.
I used to have fairly strong views on this (i.e. that assisted suicide should be legalised immediately), and this year my views have become stronger. In April, I lost my father to Motor Neurone Disease. He went from perfectly healthy to dead within 12 months, and by the time he died he could do very little for himself, and could barely communicate.
Shortly after diagnosis, he made a living will. Fortunately (I think), we didn’t have a decision to make; as he passed away just before it got really, really bad.
Interestingly, before he was ill, my Dad was mildly against euthanasia, for the usual reasons (people being forced into it, or just feeling that they ‘ought’ to). Having MND caused him to change his views.
The decision to live or die is one’s own entirely. The law should not come into it. If I imagine a situation where myself, my wife and mother were asked to assist my Dad in suicide (for example by taking him to Switzerland), we would all have done it without question. The fact that we would then have been liable to prosecution, however unlikely, is disgusting, and just makes a difficult situation worse for people who are suffering enough.
Don’t even get me started on religion. Each to their own, but as said above, somebody else’s religion should have no bearing on my life whatsoever, and moralistic preachers should learn to keep their views to themselves.
Sorry – rant over!
Nor mine Bulwark….
He seems the most likely winner of this, but more based on hype and potential than form in the book. 7-4 is too short, imo.
Don’t fancy CAJ; wouldn’t write off Katchit (but suspect he will be better in March, and wouldn’t want to back him until showing some sparkle); which leaves me with Chomba Womba.
A great bet each way I reckon. In the form of her life, the yard going great guns and the form in the book isn’t too shabby.
Superb level of debate and reasoning from Johncoffee, it’s what makes this forum head and shoulders above the rest…
Seriously, John, if you haven’t got anything intelligent to contribute to the forum, say nothing.
Or join the like-minded people on the Betfair forum…..
Petit Robin looked awesome on Saturday, and could be worth backing ew at 16-1.
Opinions?
HJ and Zoz: with you both at Cottenham, who put the result on? Surely not DI?!?
Inglis Drever and Air Force One, both to win
Well said Rob – agree with all of that.
Good post Cav.
I am intrigued by the Taunton race, however, and also the software which allows you to do that.
Squadron 1pt ew please.
Ouzbeck ew in the PP for me please
