TatenenWelcome the forum Bahram.
People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones however, and your riposte to Barry contained two grammatical errors: "their" instead of "they’re", and a missing apostrophe in "that’s".
Can’t see what will beat Imsingingtheblues, but probably going to give it a swerve, betting wise, as he’s a bit short.
Would back him at evens or better.
Ian/Reet.
My point wasn’t that I actively want to pay for it, more that it’s their right to charge if they want, and shouldn’t be labelled fat cats for doing so.
Google relies on advertising and pay per click for income, Wikipedia, whilst entertaining, is riddled with errors as it is compiled by its users, and Youtube again relies on users for content with some advertising.
The advertising options open to the RP are significantly less numerous than those available to Google, and you wouldn’t want it to be user compiled and thus full of errors, would you?
The other thing is that RP are publishing on the site info which they are charging £1.60 for in the paper – hardly a sustainable business model not that everyone has got the internet. I used to buy the paper most days – now only buy it on a Saturday (for nostalgia more than anything), and when I’m going racing.
Surprised the site’s been free for so long actually, and would be more than prepared to pay, say £10 per month to use it.
Ian – what gives you the right to expect something for free?
It is their service, it they want to charge it’s up to them, and up to you whether to pay for it.
You can label people ‘fat cats’ all you want, but if businesses don’t make money, they go out of business, and then you wouldn’t have a website.
Sounds like a fairish plan.
I like Barbers Shop (if he runs) and Silverburn for the PP, and Big Buck’s / Air Force one for the Hennessy.
Not very original I know.
Also trying to find room for Cousin Vinny, as he could be outstanding, but don’t normally include a novice hurdler. Thinking about sacrificing a staying hurdler, and putting Inglis Drever in in the transfer window, along with the other obvious sub, Denman.
Thanks chaps.
I’d come to the conclusion that NC was the best all round bet.
Whilst we’re at it – novice chasers: which if any are you including?
My shortlist is:
Tatenen
Fiveforthree
I’msingintheblues
Nevada Royale
Beshabar

Takeroc, 2pts win please.
No doubt, probably on the day I don’t back them….

Bugger

Can’t seem to back a winner at present. I’m off to peruse the "losing runs" thread!
I second that Drone – well said Paul.
Pathetic Fist… grow up.
Not libellous, Rory, just badly spelt and mildly moronic, like a great deal of his other posts.
Best: 14-1 Lady Carla for the Oaks when I was 15 (started 100-30).
Worst: too many to mention!
P.S. Hilarious rant by Fist.
Fist – do you not think it’s a bit undignified to boast about your financial successes? You’ll be telling us all how much you earn next. We only have your word for the success or otherwise of your punting in any case….
"I agree Alan Howes is entirely serviceable, though I do wish someone would gently remind him that the term is "horse x is being ridden along", not "rode along" – a minor but frequent irritation."
I think he might be saying "rowed along", GC, but what riding a horse has to do with rowing I have no idea.
Grammatical errors do annoy me, particularly when made through sheer laziness; there are a few people who post on this forum who simply can’t be bothered to make their postings readable…
Didn’t see the race – did he win well?
Always been a favourite of mine since he won the novice chase at Aintree.
