Love within a bus journey?
You can get locked up for that…
Thanks for the link David, really useful.
Anyone know what the going is normally like at Baden Baden and Koln in September?
Further to this, why is he 14-1, when the Post tissue is 4-1?
Who has got this priced wrongly? Surely a great each way bet, as is Annie Fleetwood later on the card.
Thought it would be worth resurrecting this thread – a good performance today, 2000gns for next year?
Glenn – since you haven’t got a good word to say about anyone or anything in this sport, have you considered following something else?
I hear football is quite good.
Completely agree. Lacks insight and is extremely wearing at times. Haven’t heard Blofeld for ages – where’s he gone?
Will not be included in results as price is too high?
Are you joking?
A very balanced post Sean, and one with which I concur entirely.
Given the choice, it would be better if it hadn’t happened. However, like most of those on the forum who have been around horses for a while, I regognise that discipline is essential, and have hit horses myself on numerous occasions. We all know that there is nothing wrong with that, but for a stalls handler to do it is detrimental to the image created of the sport to those not involved in it.
Amazing it’s taken 5 pages of discussion to get here!
"Blindfolding a horse and shoving it in a stall is also animal cruelty"
If you truly believe this, have you considered finding another sport to follow?
"However, the same trainer will run Equisio in the Kings Stand. Regarded as the best sprinter in Spain, he was a fine second to Marchand D’or in France recently, and I’ll have him down as my each way good thing."
A big well done to Darren (Anglo German) for that one (shame I didn’t follow the advice…).
Thanks for the link Cav, interesting reading…
Cav – do you have any stats on the proportion of declared runners which come out of these races (as against those coming out of other races)?
I wonder if it’s just that we notice non-runners more when they affect the each way terms.
I’m not really getting this…
Is the implication that the bookmakers are sabotaging these races by paying trainers not to run their horses?
Sorry for being thick…
Well said carvills, I agree entirely.
I have nothing against trainers keeping running plans to themselves until a decision has been made, but that is a world away from deliberately misleading the betting public by blatantly lying about a horse’s intended target.
A big pinch of salt needed with Mr Bolger’s comments, lesson learned…
Like Marble, I am pleased that he will be running (if JB doesn’t change his mind again); as it will add lustre to a Derby I am looking forward to.
I quite fancy his chances as well, think he’ll get the trip no problem, and brings solid Classic form to the table.
Casual Conquest by far the most impressive trial winner though.
Also interested to read a quote in the Telegraph today that Johnny Murtagh doesn’t know which of Ballydoyle’s he’ll ride yet, but that he’d be surprised if they didn’t have three out of the first five home. He also said that King of Rome is the one who’s shown the most improvement, making 25-1 look pretty tasty to me…
Thanks GC.
In my Weatherbys Chase days I would have been more on the ball with the pointing form, but sadly don’t keep up as much as I should nowadays.
A small e.w. investment on Whizzaar and a win bet on Andy Anshan will do for me tonight I think, good luck with the radio tomorrow.
Ben
Thanks Mark – yes, bit confused there, of course it’s Goodwood.

Think a watching brief might be the best policy – would want around 6-4 on Sixties Icon I think…
