One of my favourite meetings of the year, and very sad not to be in attendance.

Wondered if any of the experts (HJ, GC etc.) had a view on the John Corbet tonight. Always like to have a stab at this one – happy memories of Coomakista abound.

Not sure what to make of it tonight, quite fancy Whizzaar at a big price. Lady Myfanwy looks solid each way as well.

Would appreciate some guidance from those with more intimate knowledge of the p2p form though…

    Hi Benny,

I will be there on a jolly this evening, but won’t have had time to look at the form properly beforehand – I’m preparing for a radio stint tomorrow night at the moment which will cover the Horse and Hound Cup among other things. Hopefully I can be of a bit more use then!

All I will say on the 2m1f hunters’ chase is that I’ll be looking to see what try to makes the running from the get-go; and if De Luian Gorm and Young Tot try to take each other on for the lead, I’ll be barking instructions down the phone at Mrs C to oppose both in-running with one of the others likely to be ridden with a bit more restraint (possibly Andy Anshan).

This all presupposes that Armaturk fails to come up with the goods again, of course, and for all his class past and present, he’s already shown little appetite for the bustle of a big-field minimum trip hunters’ chase once this term.

Meanwhile, I’ve narrowed the field in the John Corbett Cup down to a shortlist of about nine… 8)

    Thanks GC.

In my Weatherbys Chase days I would have been more on the ball with the pointing form, but sadly don’t keep up as much as I should nowadays.

A small e.w. investment on Whizzaar and a win bet on Andy Anshan will do for me tonight I think, good luck with the radio tomorrow.

I didn’t realise that Marilyn Scudamore was a trainer these days.

Yep, Moe – I know Maz was training a horse called Galway in points and hunters’ chases from 2001 onwards, and others on here may be able to advise if this career of hers stretches even further back than that.
