March 17, 2016 at 13:00 in reply to: Taking your camera to the races? Are you aware of this? #1238388Ah to me this looks like a rule that isn’t really a rule. If you’re heading to the races with a proper camera in future I’d just head to the door with the security guard who looks like he/she gives the least f***s, and if they put up a fuss just explain you’ve been going racing for years and love getting photos of the day out to decorate the house with. I’m 99% sure this will work.
Good post Nath, gutted for you mate as I know how harsh it can be when you’re so confident in a favourite who’s set to return you big money only to have your hopes dashed. Great photo’s though, especially love the two with Nico and Nicky smiling away together, it’s actually really warming to see Nicky with that grin on his face after seeing him look so bewildered over the last 12-24 months.
After all my ante-post accas failed due to Min losing on the first day, I thought today would be better, I was wrong.
First bet No More Heroes gets injured in running after looking like he had a great chance of winning. Next bet was a small e/w in the Coral Cup on Long House Hall who came 2nd after not getting a gap, think I only doubled my money on that one. Put the winnings on Un De Sceaux, fair play to Sprinter Sacre and Henderson, soft ground would have seen the Mullins horse win I think but oh well not complaining.
I am complaining about the last bet though, Bet365 only offered win-only in-play for the Bumper so I backed Battleford 25/1 only to get done in a photo by the favourite

Speak to anyone involved in and around the Mullins yard and hard to believe the confidence behind Uncle Junior here, they really think he will go very close at 15. At the prices he’ll be my e/w poke. Not a race to go too mad in though as it can be hard for them to even take the right course as we well know

Had 80p e/w on Uncle Junior thanks to your post, I can see him now about a mile behind the others!

almost
NMH got an injury? Didn’t see that, typical! Hope he’s back for next year.
No More Heroes will jump them silly. He’s a natural, and takes little out of himself, unlike MOT who always seems to me to run a bit with the choke out and is a workmanlike fencer.
NMH has a few gears too, and I believe he could be one of the most impressive winners of the meeting and will get a shortish Gold Cup quote
Changed my mind and agree with you, going wont be too quick and he will jump superbly allowing him to win impressively
good luck nath come on the sceaux
Well that f***** me financially for the festival but somehow I have a smile on my face, seeing the crowd clap/cheer Altior as he walked past the crowd after a superb victory, hearing Nicky nearly cracking up while being interviewed, you sense a real weight off his shoulders.
This festival is a beautiful thing.

Haha yes Gord as Nathan said I think my username used to be Ben_Hutch but I forgot my password and never got round to making a new account, but with Cheltenham coming up I couldn’t stay away any longer.
That’s actually put my worries to rest, Min’s just a horse who’s lazy at home on the gallops but comes alive at the racetrack, that explains why he “takes a good grip” once he gets down to the start and seems keen in his races, the boy just loves to race. Will be helped to settle by the faster pace in the Supreme but to be honest from what he showed last time out he could probably front run and win.
I see why Mullins/Walsh have been tentative in the press about him, from our point of view all we’ve seen are his superb performances on the track, whereas if you were Mullins and saw him working averagely at home every day then you’d probably have your doubts too. But it’s best to judge a horse on what he does when it matters, and Min has only impressed.
Johns Spirit is incredibly well handicapped, looks a proper plot job for Jonjo!
I like Hargam too at the prices, backed him last year at the festival and he failed to quicken on the ground I feel. If it’s good ground he could improve a bundle.
