Just to cheer up anyone who had a losing first day. These were my bets:-
Buveur D’Air
Min & Douvan Double
Hargam & Lil Rockerfeller
Beg To Differ
The Govaness
JavertFirst day is usually dire for me but nasty feeling that I won’t be digging myself out of trouble this year.
March 15, 2016 at 22:14 #1237804It’s only day one, don’t get too down Stilvi, had years where I’ve had bad days so know how you feel. But also had years when losing badly on the first two days and still shown a good Festival profit by the end. It can change quickly.
If they don’t water overnight, good ground/speed at the trip is key.
Value Is EverythingMarch 15, 2016 at 22:18 #1237807I didn’t have a very good day either Stilvi, I had a paltry bet on Altior, then had losers in the form of The New One, Band of Blood, Native River and Double Shuffle. I dO have Douvan and VVM in an accumulator with Yanworth, Un De Sceaux and Limini, but not overly convinced it will come in now with the ground getting quicker.
I might chance a treble on Yanworth, More of That and Josies Orders tomorrow and Romain de Senam each way in the Fred Winter. Onwards and upwards!
March 15, 2016 at 23:15 #1237833I had a third, two fourths and a fifth. Of course the fifth was my each-way ante-post on Kruzhlinin at 20/1 and I needed a fourth. I reckon the ground turned against most of mine and it may be the same tomorrow for my ante-post shot from last March Un De Sceaux, who I took at 3/1 last year right after the Arkle.
Just to rub the salt in my 16/1 on Vautour is now up the chute in the Gold Cup after Ricci Ticci Tavvi mongoosed his way from Billy Bragg to Billy Liar in record time.
I feel sorry for Steeplechasing, who has been Vautour’s biggest fan for ages. This news story captures a visibly shaken and old before his time Joe giving the unrepentant Rich Ricci a piece of his mind:-

There’s always tomorrow.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
March 15, 2016 at 23:23 #1237839I had plenty of winners/places but would have easily give them up for the three who lost their lives. I was really happy 20 mins ago until I came on here. Not a great day for NH racing

Think we also should take a step back and think of connections of the three who lost their lives today
March 15, 2016 at 23:27 #1237841I thought it was all going to be so easy after the first race!!
I backed both Altior and Henderson’s other one and also managed to back the other one without MIn and Altior at 12/5 and then the wheels fell of!!
Vaniteux fell when I was on ante post first three and backed it to be placed!
Complete blow out in the next!!
Nichols Canyon placed
Then The Govaness R.I.P falls at the last when I backed it at 9/2 without the fav!!
Then Vicente finished fifth having backed it 20/1 each way first four!!
And finally I backed two in the last each way at 16/1 and 14/1 ante post and the bloody top weight comes and does me!!
And Vautour doesn’t run in the Gold Cup THANK YOU MISTER RICCI LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE!!!!!!!!!!
At least there are still three days to go!!
March 15, 2016 at 23:45 #1237849ALTIOR – Easy Winner. Probably backed more than I would have thanks to Ladbrokes kind offer.
The Young Master – Ran well to get 3rd
Annie Power – Say no more

Legacy Gold – After APs win I thought she must have a chance. Ran a cracker at 50s.
Southfield Royale & Measureofmydreams – The girls Nina and Katie were right there at the last bend but were just outstayed.
Ruby – Treble in a Lucky 15 nearly doubled my money.
March 16, 2016 at 01:27 #1237865Not a good first day but Annie power doing a 4 sec course rec against the blokes ….. Nice to experience. Going to all 4 days this time … Didn’t wrap up warm enough and was too cold with that wind. To top it off I had no internet this morning on my PC at home … Lan card failure I think. Maplins in chelt should stock a wireless dongle but looking forward to day to … Although I’m gonna wrap up like an Eskimo
March 16, 2016 at 02:02 #1237868Was freezing, wasn’t it. It was so bad we went into the Centaur for a while just to warm up [you have to be desperate to do that]. On the plus side we’ve found an amazing car park that I’m not going to share with anyone because it’s not very big and we’re planning to use it every year. The downside, of course being the fatalities. The only money I mad today was the returned money from my NRNB bets,

I’m always “up the chute”.
Sorry private joke.As far as Ricci is concerned, Billy Bragg is so much better, This git arse (should) say sorry, and sorry again.
Based on Billy Bragg’s “This Guitar Says Sorry”:
Joe met Ricci about the Race re-la-tions
Much to the dis-may of T R F and fre-e-ends

Totally agree – except that I only had Altior and Douvan so the day went downhill in every way
March 16, 2016 at 08:31 #1237909We are all daft really to even trust a banker albeit ex banker!!!
March 16, 2016 at 19:33 #1238134After all my ante-post accas failed due to Min losing on the first day, I thought today would be better, I was wrong.
First bet No More Heroes gets injured in running after looking like he had a great chance of winning. Next bet was a small e/w in the Coral Cup on Long House Hall who came 2nd after not getting a gap, think I only doubled my money on that one. Put the winnings on Un De Sceaux, fair play to Sprinter Sacre and Henderson, soft ground would have seen the Mullins horse win I think but oh well not complaining.
I am complaining about the last bet though, Bet365 only offered win-only in-play for the Bumper so I backed Battleford 25/1 only to get done in a photo by the favourite
March 16, 2016 at 20:02 #1238147Just beating the bookies at the moment – down to DiamondKing though.
Tomorrow’s another day
ante post
Thistlecrack at 10s.
AlFerof at 10s.
Remember its only half time.
Ps Vautour will rip up the Ryan air and will be backing him even though it’s not my sort of bet
March 16, 2016 at 20:28 #1238156Well things finally got going but only after another bumpy road.
A Toi Phil
More Of That
Baoulet Delaroque & Baron Alco
Gods Own W/O Un De Sceaux
Ballyboker Bridge
Ardamir & Our Thomas
BallyandyBaoulet Delaroque the most annoying one of the day as I backed him each way before they offered five places. Had the jock got after him that bit earlier I think he would have gone very close but that’s what you can get Fehily. Still one winner much better than none.
March 16, 2016 at 22:15 #1238186Balouet Delaroque was my selection at 14/1 this morning. I felt he was a bit outpaced at a key stage and then stayed on well. I knew right away that he was fifth, despite Simon Holt stating that he might have been 4th.
I think he ran an excellent race for a horse of only five and had the ground been less quick, he may have done better still.
In the Bumper I went off Couer Blimey due to the quick ground and did High Bridge at 12/1. I felt he travelled sweetly most of the way and looked to hold every chance. I still can’t quite believe he managed to finish only sixth, he looked assured of a place but didn’t quite seem to get home.
I can’t understand those who would back Augusta Kate at 7/2. Her first race was as awful an affair as you could ever witness and her form was on soft ground. She looked poor value indeed.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
March 17, 2016 at 00:03 #1238235Another good un for me betting wise
Again thanks to Ladbrokes has £20 on Ruby in the first.
Backed MOT, my biggest bet of the week in the RSA but luckily had a saver on Blaklion at 12s
Sprinter Sacre – only a small bet but who gives a f***

Any Currency – Backed this in the Cross Country races since mi dad was a nipper so this was nearly up there with SS

Bacardys – Stayed on well up the hill in the Bumper to grab 3rd.
Even if I have a disaster in the second half I know I won’t be murdered by the Bookies.
