Would have been handy had I been in your shoes in that instance, laying the mare as she came round the final bend. But knowing me I’d have let the jolly ride!
My biggest laying error was with My Tent or Yours…Twice actually! I’d backed him for the ‘Supreme’ at 25/1 months ahead and should have traded some off,he was 2/1fav for a while before the race which was worth taking but I actually sat and watched him go 1/5 in running and still never pressed the lay button.A year later I’m on at 33/1 for the Champion hurdle,(backed him for that at the same time I backed him for his Nov Grade 1) such is my belief in the horse and again he’s 2/1 before the race and traded odds-on in running again and my stubborness cost me.I could have had a four figure profit from him Win or Lose..
March 1, 2016 at 22:18 #1235990I remember that Gord, you’d been confidend throughout the season with My Tent or Yours and rightly so! After winning the Betfair I too thought he was a sure thing, backed him myself and thought he’d got it in the bag before being outbattled.
I had a somewhat similar situation 2 years ago, had about £100 worth of accas on Bobs Worth for the Gold Cup to return £2500 and £50 worth of accas on Annie Power for the World Hurdle to return £1500. Though not in play I was seriously contemplating laying both for around a grand profit but thought ‘one of them has to win so I’ll just let them ride, they even both could and I’ll be laughing’
Obviously it wasn’t to be, Bobs Worth 4th in one of the strangest Gold Cups to date and Annie Power being undone by Jonjo and his unexposed one……who by the way should be the winner of the RSA if he’s allowed to run in it!
March 1, 2016 at 22:22 #1235992The year before that I had my biggest bet of the festival (Boston Bob) fall at the last – after you’d tipped him up earlier in the season. And last year my biggest bet was an acca on the first day Mullins horses which was declined by Ruby and Annie.
3 years on the trot I feel I’ve been hard done by at the festival but it hasn’t knocked my love for the game or the beautiful festival. If anything it makes me more determined. I’m going to hit a big enough one soon. Persistence is key!
March 1, 2016 at 22:28 #1235996Min….is the certainty, or as near to such a thing as you’ll find next week.

Mullins seemed pretty sweet on Yorkhill if I interpreted his comments correctly
March 1, 2016 at 23:32 #1236004Min is the lay of the meeting for me!!
Vautour is the certainty !!

I certainly rate Yorkhill a better horse than Min but alas where’s he going to run???.I’ve left that to the Choir Master of Musical chairs himself thats why I’m on Altior for the ‘Supreme’a horse who has had one and only target.

Ben,have you contributed under another name on here in the past then?? I’ve actually had a tenner on Boston bob at 290’s for the Gold cup and 190’s for the Ryanair.

Bloody brave man laying ‘Min’ Raymo!! My head tells me ‘Vautour’ could run away with the Gold cup but my heart says he wont get up the hill, either way Cue Card will beat him!

Yes he has Gord……
He was called Ben back then aswell.
Check out the thread Ben started in daily lays and plays ‘Cheltenham Bets’Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
March 2, 2016 at 10:25 #1236033I just think Min has beaten trees Gord. Apart from Ball D’Arc it hasn’t beaten anything of note and at less than 2/1 is a terrible price!
It is good to have an opinion and mine is Min should be a 3/1 or 7/2 chance at best!!
March 2, 2016 at 10:28 #1236034Haha yes Gord as Nathan said I think my username used to be Ben_Hutch but I forgot my password and never got round to making a new account, but with Cheltenham coming up I couldn’t stay away any longer.
March 2, 2016 at 12:55 #1236054Anyone who’s still thinking about a “certainties” (if there is such a beast) accumulator,
I noticed that Paddy Power are best priced for MIN (7/4 Supreme)) DOUVAN (4/9 Arkle))
Annie Power (2/1 Champion Hurdle) YANWORTH (6/5 Neptune) and THISTLECRACK (11/10 World Hurdle)Some firms might match one or two but none match them all together. The only firm beating
one of the prices is Racebets who go 2/1 MIN, but again they fall short of PP for the accum. So my reckoning, if my mental arithmetic holds out, is that a tenner accum would return around
£550.I’m not putting them forward as winners, just pointing out that they are the very fancied
horses, and PP would provide the best priced accum.I’ve done an accum with the above, but without THISTLECRACK. I’ve put in BRISTOL DE MAI instead,
who is a standout 5/1 with PP in the JLT. That makes my accum £1560 for a tenner…..being the
eternal optimist I may have more that a tenner on that
March 2, 2016 at 19:18 #1236078Best of luck Big G but personally I think only two of them will win!!
But hey ho what do I know !!

You’re probaley right Raymo. I didn’t have any fav type accum’s running, and when I noticed PP
were top prices on all of the above, I had one of those “oh what the hell” moments. The biggest surprise to me was PP going 5/1 on BRISTOL DE MAI in the JLT, I think they are taking
a huge chance there. I’ve had a few quid on him, I think he’s one of the bets of the Festival.March 2, 2016 at 20:04 #1236088Anyone who’s still thinking about a “certainties” (if there is such a beast) accumulator,

Certainly looks good on paper Big G..Good luck.
March 2, 2016 at 20:04 #1236089I think there are so many maybe’s with a lot of Irish horses anything that you are pretty sure is going to run in that race has to be bet cos they are going to end up shorter once the Irish decide what does and doesn’t run!!
Good Luck with Bristol De Mai personally I fancy Outlander and Zabana but I will wait to see some decs nearer the time before betting either of them .
