The chap on the left is Graham Fletcher and the one on the right with grey hair is Mike Tucker, the BBC’s equestrian commentator.
I presume this photo was taken during their coverage of the Hickstead Derby meeting.

Graham Fletcher was very successtul with a good horse called Buttevant Boy about thirty years ago and I think Mike Tucker rode in an olympic eventing team and came mightily close to winning Badminton in his time. Both are top class horsemen with a great knowledge (Fletcher writes a strongly opinionated and well informed column in Horse and Hound which I enjoy). I’ve been lucky to chat to them both at events down the years and you could not meet nicer chaps.
THE DAFT THING IS I HAVE TALKED TO THEM TOO. AND YOUR RIGHT GIVE YOU THE TIME OF DAY ANYTIME. TALK ABOUT HORSE’S UNTIL THE COWS COME HOME BUT NEVER GET THIER NAMES RIGHT

god after reading most of the crap on hear i hope its on tomorrow
don’t think i could take another day of this

What a fking joke. I’m sorry but this country is a nanny state. I’m surprised they don’t ban people from walking out of front doors just in case something happens to them.
Absolutely ridiculous.
well just seeing pics from down thire im glad i haven’t gone down looks bad in parts and on the saftey it looks like thay had no choice. and if the organisers pull the next 2 days off good on em i say
A jockey who tries to win a race by excessive use of the whip should be disqualified. What is a 3/4 day ban, missing out on awful mid-week meetings, going to do to deter what we saw today?[/quote
i only wanted to know what it was for, sometime you wish you had never said anything in the first place. but i no this subject got flogged (
) to bits on the main site. you do have a good point their though. i think we all have different views on the subject anyway lets hopefully get on with the rest of the meeting and hope all get home safeley
YES THANKS FOR THAT JUST SEAMED FUNNY IT HAD GONE WHAT TO ME SEAMED A SIMPEL QUESTION

CLASS

i know im answering my own question hear
, but i went past wetherby race course today and there’s a new open ditch been put in the back straight. and the 2nd from home what has been causing a few problems has been remooved
RALLYING’S MY GAME AND YOU GET ALL SORTS OF RULES IN THAT
I HAVE BEEN IN THE RALLYING WORLD FOR 29 YEARS AND BELIEVE ME 1 SECOND IS A LONG TIME NOWADAYS. A 100TH IS YOU GET A 10 SECOND PENALTY ITS HARD TO GET IT BACK SO ONE SEC YOU LEADING THEN YOU PICK UP A STUPID PENALTY. THEN ITS FROM FIRST TO SECOND OR WORSE IN ONE EASY MOVE
don’t know if the fence they have taken out will be replaced in time to come down the back straight
. im glad the water jump has gone it should have been called sand jump because that’s all it had in it at anytime of year
. i must agree with you the course could have done with a year out to settle in. im sure it will come together at some point
The forecast is favourable, being mild, dry and breezy so perhaps all is not lost. Though I suspect the parts of the ‘new’ chase course causing problems would actually benefit from not being raced on again this season.
YOU COULD HAVE A POINT THEIR, I WALKED IT YESTERDAY AND IN SOME PLACES IT IS WET. BUT I HAVE SEEN IT WORSE THAN THAT. WE HAVE HAD NO RAIN FOR THE LAST FEW DAYS BUT THE 3RD FROM HOME (CHASE) IS SOAKED. I THINK ITS ONLY BEEN USED ONCE THIS SEASON AND THE NEW FENCE WHAT HAD BEEN PUT UP AT THE SIDE OF THE A1 THE ONE THAT CAUGHT SOME OF YOU OUT ON THE HELP TOPIC I PUT ON IS FLAT TO THE GROUND. SO WE WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS AT THE INSPECTION

[URL=http://g.imageshack.us/g.phpYES, HE IS ONE OF THE BEST, I DO HIS PICS FOR HIM AT WETHERBY MY SON WORSHIPS THE GROUND HE WALKS ON. GET WELL SOON GRAHAM OUR THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOU

Democracy is the only way. One man, one vote. On ALL subjects.
& hear end’th the 1st lesson

now im
i was told it was golden jess but i think you could be closer im still trying to watch it but no joy yet thanks anyway
but If a jockey abuses the whip then they should be punished ie banned heavily and once the ban is up and they are then eligable to start riding again they do so for a period without the aid of the whip..They would then have to improve their general horsemanship to get the best from a horse , if they loose races before the whip is re-instated to them well tough , they will learn to respect the whip rules in future…Just my thoughts on this matter

gets my vote
