At Newbury Royal Mix makes his hurdle debut for Nicholls and RW. It’s not rocket science as he’s 1/2, but it will be interesting to see how he runs none the less. He’s another French import, and i don’t envisage many problems for him. I believe the term is ‘buying money’.

And you call me Captain Obvious!
November 27, 2009 at 18:47 #260841Wasn’t nothing but a confidence booster. Buying money bets are very acceptable at any price, because you’re still putting a stake up. It had never run before either. All all goes on something else anyway.
November 28, 2009 at 16:20 #260988Denman does it. 20 @ 13/2 taken. That was so satisfying it has to be said.

Bring on the Gold Cup.

November 28, 2009 at 16:30 #260992Seamster is 11/1 in the 720 @ Wolves tonight. I don’t see why it’s not worth an each way chance to be honest. Mark Johnston has done very well this season so 11s might just be generous.
November 29, 2009 at 11:34 #261143Ran its race and came second. I’ll move onto the next each way shout. Minella for food is a reasonable 14/1 in the Novices Hurdle at Leicster(1245). It’s been away from the track for a long time, but some of these absentees come back and run really well. Evan Williams does alright, and if this horse can retain what was showed last time, then it could be interesting.
November 29, 2009 at 13:29 #261156That one had no chance. It’s guessing work with these horses with a long absence. Anyway, i will quietly work in the background with some books, test tubes, chemicals and a calculator to come up with some classic winners using my scientific methods. I’m gonnae get a pair of glasses from the pound shop, before battle commences. I have decided that 25 years of racing experience gets people nowhere fast
. It’s time for a new age approach. Call me in the spare room if you need me, i’ll be in there for days. The plan is to create an ante post overlord in life form, which will crush Captain Obvious and take over the betting world, once and for all mwah hahaha.
December 1, 2009 at 21:05 #261605In the Drinmore novice chase, or should i say hotly contested Drinmore novices chase – Pandorama at 5/1 has a good chance of making his first chase win. His debut wasn’t impressive by any means, as he was all over the place. However, he has schooled well, and one or two of Noel Meade’s runners needed the run, including Sublimity. He was hanging the opposite way to which this track goes, so i’m guessing it’s been ironed out as surely he wouldn’t be running if he didn’t ? some of these Irish races ain’t the easiest to figure, but i’ll see what happens. I’d imagine the ground will be plenty soft.
I’ve got something else brewing up in the pipeline.
December 1, 2009 at 21:08 #261607Man after my own heart with Pandorama – one of my favourite horses, but Sublimity isn’t a Noel Meade horse!
December 2, 2009 at 10:33 #261736My mistake I.C, i meant to say Go Native instead of Sublimity. So many hurdlers i sometimes get mixed up. Yes Go Native’s re-appearances perhaps showed that they needed the run, although obviously the ground wasn’t up to much.
In the Hatton grace i’ve went for Catch me. Yeah probably the obvious choice, with Oscar Dan Dan not too bad a price. I think i’ll resist a saver though.
In the Royal Bond i’ll oppose Dunguib with Sweeps Hill, simply because it’s a small field, and Dunguib has yet to tackle the final fences with any real purpose. He’s been ever so hesitant tackling one or two fences, and maybe that’s because he was cantering, who knows ? I’ll have a small bet for interest.
December 3, 2009 at 11:47 #261905I was glad to see it get home first, hope you got a bob or two off it I.C.
I’ve backed Captain Cee Bee at 5/1, even though the market doesn’t fancy it, connections say it needs the run and the ground doesn’t look any use either. It’s a tough beginners chase, but AP is the man you want on board when everything is against your horse. I imagine they have had plenty of time to school it, and it obviously has a lot of ability. If it’s in the mix up going over the last few jumps, then fair enough.
December 3, 2009 at 12:07 #261909I’m inclined to agree with your Captain Cee Bee bet, 5/1 looks big for a previous festival winner in a race where only 2 or 3 should be in with a shout. The main danger Zaarito didn’t jump too well last time on his fences debut but equally had some cracking bumper and hurdles form, but 5/2 v 5/1 there’s no question of which I’d rather be on.

Nice few bob so I did Graeme. It was such a silly price about a horse who has only ever been beaten trying to give weight to Mikael D’Haguenet.
I’d expect a good show from Captain Cee Bee today. The ground at Naas is never as bad as you’d get at Navan or Fairyhouse. He’ll go through it alright. Harty was saying that if they couldn’t get a run into him this week they’d wait for the Grade 1 at Christmas. That suggests to me that he is fairly ready.
December 3, 2009 at 13:01 #261923He was ready alright!
December 3, 2009 at 13:14 #261927He sure was. Brilliant jumping aswell, and has got to be in with a shout come Arkle time.
Hopefully Ebadiyan 6/4 is ready as well lol. He’s running in the 120, and i’ve noticed the support. Hopefully we can put a line through his re-appearance. I wonder if Brady has been lumping it on, as i think this is a race he’d expect to win.
I remember ages ago asking people where Cee Bee would go, because i liked him. Unfortunately i never got round to having a bet. He’s getting the respect now off the punters right enough.
I wonder if he could go to the Ryanair instead ?
December 3, 2009 at 14:46 #261938Ladbrokes obviously weren’t as impressed as some, as they are 25/1 for the Arkle, with others as low as 12/1. Considering he will prefer better ground, and should progress more over fences, i grabbed £20 on it. Maybe they think he will go to the Ryanair or something, i dunno.
The Hong Kong sprint is as hot as the place you go to for doing bad deeds in this lifetime, apparently. There are so many classy sprinters, that i don’t even know why i’m bothering. Sacred Kingdom holds the course record, the superb Californian Flag could go there(can’t think why he’s 10s other than some kind of doubt). However at 8/1, i’m putting £20 worth of faith on [b:2twc5h1o]Scenic[/color:2twc5h1o][/b:2twc5h1o] [b:2twc5h1o]Blast[/color:2twc5h1o] [/b:2twc5h1o] I think he would be shorter if it wasn’t for the fact he was caught LTO, which ruined his race and sent him packing to the back of the field. However, Morton has had him over there for a while i think, so hopefully he has been climitazing to the humidity well. Hopefully that brilliant big white face gets over the line first. I will admit though, this is a bet for bets sake, and not out of expectation. It’s a tough as they came this race. It’s the $1m bonus for him as well if he wins, so best believe he will be tip top shape.

December 3, 2009 at 15:11 #261944Good stuff there Graeme with Pandorama and Captain Cee Bee,glad to see you had the foresight to snaffle the best prices!
