In Saturdays racing i have a couple of bets permed up. My biggest bet is Notre Pere at Fairyhouse. As usual i put my cards on the table, and money where my mouth is. I hope he can discover a bit of good form, because he will need it against one or two handy types in this race.
February 20, 2010 at 18:26 #278118Notre Pere needs some massive ears and a tin of grey paint, because he’d make a good elephant one of these days. Right, the message is coming out extremely mixed for ‘Forpadydeplaterer’. If he does make it, 98% certain to go for the Champion chase. He’s part of a syndicate though, so i shoved a tenner on for the Ryanair. It’s a waste of money, but it’s probably a rap until the festival anyway. Triple figured odds.

I wanted to add one or two more small bets, but i can’t unless things go my way later at the football.

February 24, 2010 at 10:38 #278775Next bet hits the maximum limit, which i won’t go over, regardless of who pulls out and who doesn’t. I will probably have a small bank for the festival, to cover a bet or two in case a double or something is on i.e if i was waiting on kauto or denman for a double, i’d back Cooldine. You get the picture. I have placed so many bets because i want to be in contention for the big races, and not knocked out on the first day, or even worse when they don’t make it there, as fun is an important part of all this. It’s weird i used the word fun, because i don’t think i’d be able to enjoy some of these races, because i’ve went large by my standards. The only time it will be enjoyable, is when i can put my feet up knowing my loses won’t be too bad, or in the unlikely event there could be a small profit. If the truth be told i’ve got to the point where i’m not enjoying these ante posts, as i feel something will probably go tits up before the festival, again.
Anyway, i thought i’d round things up with a ‘Cheltenham Specialist’, which is an e/w treble, although i won’t be going for the short odds. I thought i’d throw in a couple of horses i like, but hadn’t backed.
£11 e/w treble
Not a great deal happened in 2000, apart from the US supreme court deciding that a deranged freemason had won the election, after all the confusion.

February 24, 2010 at 14:14 #278821I kind of thought about some bets, and thought i may as well go over budget a wee bit. They do it on these bbc house programmes, so i don’t see why i shouldn’t. These again would all be at astronomical odds.

February 25, 2010 at 13:51 #279049There’s an outlaw in town called William ‘tight ass’ Hill, believed to be an associate of Gordon ‘ante post’ King. He’s being going around town, saying i gots a price on my head. I’m just gonnae have to draw once and put an end to this fella. The sheriff will ban me from his town when i do, but it will be worth it.

March 4, 2010 at 09:57 #280357Sometimes i lunge into a bet and back it without any consideration whatsoever. Todays example of my wrecklesness comes in the form of Campanologist 8/1 e/w in the grade 2 stakes at Maydan. There’s some good value in these races i feel, for anyone who takes their time, or waits for an opportunity. I like this horse, and Godolphins horses seem to be running well first time out, so i jumped on.
Pistolet Noir is 33/1 NRNB for the Triumph. In my book that’s a big price if you are the forgiving sort. If he runs well today he could be chopped down in price, if he doesn’t run well, he doesn’t go and you get your money back. Has to be worth a couple of bob for one of you who read this farce of a note book. I would be inclined to give him a second chance if i had any money, or hadn’t had a nightmare in this particular race so far. I will learn though.
Kalahari King has me on the back ropes. I really like him, and big Zeb, so a small saver to round things up is required in case something goes wrong in the Champion Chase.

I’m not a fan of The Triumph nor an AP backer but that is possibly the most sensible piece of AP advice I’ve seen on this forum! That or 4-1 Dunguib with a run for the CH

March 4, 2010 at 11:19 #280368Dude, when you are quoting someone, you reply below their comment, not int he middle of it lol !
Here’s an example :-
You hit the quote button, and you will see something like (quote) at the start of who you quoting and (quote) at the end. You make your own reply to that person separately

Like this. Anyway, i thought NRNB would be up the street of people who don’t even do ante posts. The only risk is the potential going !
I’ve had a small treble bet on War Artist, Skysurfers & Cavalryman today. It gives me a bit of interest, and you never know.

March 4, 2010 at 13:24 #280384It’s no bother. Practice in this thread if you want, it’s a pig sty anyway. I thought Meydan would be ideal for one of your e/w trebles ?

You dancer. I also had a good win on Presvis as well. Two nice respective rides by Frankie and Moore. Nice to get the breaks.

March 5, 2010 at 10:38 #280543The triumph hurdle has been a disaster for me, there’s no two ways about it. Apparently Super Kenny was lame today, so i can’t see him turning up for it. I think that in future i will give the triumph a massive swerve, until a lot closer to the time, or just pick one early doors and stick to it. I can’t delve on these things, so i will quickly move on and draw a line through the race. Something isn’t quite right all the same. they have had him all season and wait 2 weeks before the festival to give him his debut, then he’s declared lame. I also noticed someone saying that they’ve been quoted as saying he prefers good ground, and also been quoted as saying he prefers softer ground. And oh, i also read the other day that none of his adoring owners where even going to get to watch the race on tv or otherwise, due to commitments. 5+5 = 12 on this occasion.
Meydan today – two bets. I’m hoping Dohasa revels in a return to turf, especially with Pat Smullen on board, 14/1 is fine, i’m ok with that, although you can get bigger with other firms. I like Imbongi at 11/4 for the Zabeel mile, and feel he can go close with Soumillon on board.

Thanks for the advice but I’ve never bet there or at any of the Arab tracks, I doubt if I have a many as a dozen bets on the flat in the whole year When I do it’s usually on Irish jumpers running on the flat, The Arc, Irish St Leger….maybe The Derby but not every year.
This week I’ve been mopping up in Hunter Chases,3 bets, 3 winners, 11-4,11-10 & 33-1 (all posted well before the races)
GENTLE GEORGE todayMarch 5, 2010 at 15:03 #280614Good luck with the bet. It isn’t the one i’d be on to be honest. Do you have a system or anything for the jumps, or are you just as selective as you are with the flats ?

Dohasa ran well into a place. Big improvment on last run. More importantly, Christophe Soumillon gave Imbongi a very nice ride up the inside rail, netting me my biggest bet of the day.
