I’m having a single bet today, and looking at the card, it’s probably one bet too many. Coe 14/1 takes his chances in the Grimthorpe at Doncaster, and i think he might just be fairly treated off a mark of 135. The drop back in trip should suit him at this stage, and as long as he runs well it’s all i can ask for. Killglen could be interesting with first time pieces also. It’s not a race i’d go too mad on.

I backed Mourad LTO when he was narrowly defeated, and i feel inclined to go back in again with a decent sized bet for the Coral cup at 16/1, especially now that Nolan has said Noble Prince won’t be running in it. There are a few brief reasons for me to back it, NRNB being one of them, i can’t see him going down the world hurdle chase, i don’t think he was well tuned up LTO and i think he will go well on better ground. It’s a very tough assignment, but i think he’s not too badly rated at 142. Some others have cottoned on, so i’m best to act now. I will add the stake to my total if he’s declared. They will need to brush up on him over the hurdles, but he has enough scope to make a decent chaser next season.

Coe ran very well into 3rd place i feel, so that’s a bit of consistancy. Killyglen ran a very good second. I’m fairly pleased with that.

I’ve no problems in backing a horse with doubts over it. Henderson said Punchestown is looking well, so i thought i’d have the minimal of risks again. Some of these bets are just like potential savers, at big prices of course. Despite some firms going NRNB, added with the fact things are looking up for him, they’ve still kept Long Run at the head of the market.

Aiteen thirtythree is getting alot of support which is ominous for anyone going against him, considering the Findlay/Nichools/Ruby combo. However, it’s a small field and i feel that Arkose is not too bad a price at 10/3. I think he can give the fav a right decent run for his money here, despite giving it 7 pounds.

Goldi,i have just been going through your posts and it is quite apparent you have a Gambling problem,if you carry on at this rate you will end up a broken man! Just look what happened to poor old Fist last summer! Shocking! "Get a grip on yourself"! as The Stranglers say!

My addiction continues, with some bets i struck earlier. If the truth be told, i rushed into two of them too quickly, because i heard Peddlers Cross might go for the 2m. Whatever happens, they’ve been struck and i have no regrets now. I’m sure my style of betting, and some of the bets themselves can be sniggered at, but i’ve taken good prices. I took Mourad on Saturday, by yesterday he has halved in prices with the firm i backed him with, into to 8/1. Man Utd are into 9/2, a few weeks ago i advised at 9/1. I could go on with a few more good prices, but they won’t mean a great deal unless i claw something back.

I felt a bit uneasy with regards to the Coral cup. Jonjo O’Neil and J P McManus are mobile phone and notepad merchants, always planning and plotting away. I wonder if Quantativeeasing’s plan has been the coral all along ? Anyway, i’ve taken it as part of a few trebles, because you never know. I thought he travelled brilliantly LTO, but didn’t have enough fight in him. I wonder how much they’ve left to do ?

I’ve got a bit riding on Dunguib, so i though i’d have a small ammount on something else to keep things hopefully boiling over if he does get beat. I heard that McCains horse might be going down the Supreme, so i was a bit too wreckless and doubled him up.

I said on this thread i liked Voy Por a while ago, even when he was a much lower price than now. I tried putting him in an e/w accumulator, but theat went up in smoke was one was declared a NR. I will have a small bet so i don’t feel like kicking myself to hard if he runs like i expect him to.

    £10 double

    £10 double

That’s it from me anyway. I’m just going to have to wait and see what runs, and see what doesn’t. If i could have started from scratch, i would have done it a bit differently. However, the lunatic bets at long odds will continue, because one day i’m gonnae knock it off mates.

As i type, i’m already plotting away for future races. I will be standing by what i’ve backed, and not laying off. There’s nothing long with those who do that, but at this moment in time it isn’t for me.

Do you know what i think of this thread ? I think it’s like one of those big cool fireworks you used to see, with a thick stick and enough gun powder to help Guy Fox on a mission, one of those big Japanese mothers that someones auld man has to light because it was too dangerous in the wrong hands. Everyone waits, and then the only sound that comes off in full flight is similar to a fart in a bath. Everyone thinks, all that for fu*ckin that ?

Good festival luck to anyone who is reading from this unrepentant gambler.

    Saturdays addiction entry

    Location – Sandown Clinic

    Time – 1505 hours

    Objective – Imperial Cup

Hi everyone. My names Graeme and i’m a gambling addict. It all started when a voice came to me in my dreams, and said "pssss pssss, have a good bet on Qaspal at 15/4, and a smaller bet on Pepe Simo at 15/2 mate". From there it just didn’t stop, i got thrills from losing money at Cheltenham, and still after that i was plotting away, and hearing fractional odds in my head. Everytime i disagreed with someones opinion, i’d offer them a wager on the outcome. I even roll up William Hill leaflets, and put tobacco and a filter inside, whenever i’m broke and need a fix. It has gotten to the point where people think i have Tourettes syndrome because i walk past people in the street and shout "sh*t ride"(women take particular offence to this), and 16 to fu*king one each way".

Robbie Keane is 14/1 to score in both halfs today away to Kilmarnock in the Scottish cup. It won’t be an easy tie, but he’s a player i like so i put my last tuppence worth on him.

Get in there. I don’t know what will happen at the festival, and there’s a good possibility it won’t work out, but i feel as if my bets are evolving gradually. I’m chuffed to bits with this one.

We’re now past the ante post stage. I rattled on a few accumulators today that involves one or two horses, and one or two others without the big two. Added another couple at big odds. Threw in a couple of J P McManus horses into the mix again. I feel as confident as someone hanging from the Eiffel tower by their finger nail. However, i have enjoyed looking at the ante posts, and throwing in some stupid bets, and to be fair i got some not bad value. At this stage i begin to feel a bit more nervous when i read columnists and trainers opinions and all the rest of it, so i’m going to ignore them all and just tune in for the Supreme. Looks all set to be damage limitation.

This is how it will unfold in specific order….

Shot from the hip is impressive, and i feel that 7/1 is a good enough price as a single. He has to have a reasonable chance. I had a good enough bet on him.

Feeling a bit rough today. I couldn’t really be bothered studying todays card. It just isn’t the day for me to study these big handicap races, so i quickly skimmed through them. Nina Carberrys mount on the first race, and Noel Meade has a 33/1 shot in the handicapp, Silverhand e/w. Riptide is a triple figured outsider in the last, so done a single and place, and a small bet on Golden Silver at 80s. Hollo Ladies 50/1 e/w in the Neptune should appreciate better ground. I’ve been looking at ways of covering other bets, which is my main focus. I read somewhere that Tavern Times should run a good one, but it’s a hot race.

    Cheltenham after thought :-

I’m lucky to still be floating above water, infact due to on the day betting i made a profit, and ive thoroughly enjoyed the festival, which as been the roller coaster of all roller coasters. In terms of ante posts i got

    Sizing Europe

    8/1(£270),

    Binocular

    8/1(£675) and a

    Bincoular & Big Bucks double

15/1(£812). I was waiting on Kauto to complete a nice treble, but it didn’t materialise, like one or two other bets.

Other ones i got which weren’t ante post such as a single on

    Quevega

13/8, and good enough bets on

    Sanctuaire

    £60 @ 9/2,

    Weapons Amnesty

    £30 @ 10/1 and

    Big Zeb

    £60 @ 10/1.

Peddlers Cross and Soldatino came up, but unfortunately they were part of doubles that never came happened.

A tough day hasn’t been boosted by the news that Steinbeck will miss the 2000 guineas, but i’ve wiped out all the debt on this thread, and more, with one or two other bets still to run. Punchestown and Aintee have still to come up, so i can’t really be bothered listening to O’Brien mumble about flat racing horses.

I will take my foot off the gas a little, and let one or two bets ride out, unless there’s a half decent opportunity. ‘On Borrowed Wings’ will be my last bet of the festival, an outside odds.

good fun, and more importantly a lesson or two learned.

Not much is in the pipeline apart from a daft experiment. It’s Dubai World Cup night soon, and i’ve taken 3 Australian bred horses to oppose Gayego(who will probably win anyway), and accumulated them up with 3 separate horses i like in 3 separate races to create doubles. These foreign horses have to travel and eat well, then behave themselves. If they all get a run, then fair enough.

Opposing Gayego = Rocket Man, One World & Eagle Falls.

Singles to accumulate with = Presvis, Vision D’Etat & Special Duty

‘Rocket Man’ who has run very well in Singapore

The well named ‘ Eagle Falls’ who runs down under

If i put an accumulator on, it doesn’t have to win. It can set it up, i’ll leave that for anyone reading to ponder.

Ok another couple lined up to make me look even more of a tit :-

I like all the noises being made about the Haggas horse on Saturday. Instead of putting a single on, i’ve just looked for any old excuse to put on a double or treble.

Two horses will be added to make a treble line with the Penitent and Special Duty, those are Galaxy Rock(Fists selection), and Buena Vista(my selection through a line with Red desire). I also doubled Penitent and Special Duty up.

Dubai races don’t appear to be everyone’s cup of tea, but i’ve enjoyed them. Saturday has some top quality runners in the field. An added bonus is the commentator, who is one of the best in the world. I’ve no idea what his name is, but he sounds an ozzy or a new zealander. He properly adds to the occasion.

When i look into odds checker, and see all these races priced up, i know how Charlie felt when he visited the chocolate factory. I just can’t refuse half the time.

In the Al Quoz sprint, a stiff 6F test, Finjaan takes his chance. It probably isn’t ideal that a few of his rivals have prepped in Dubai, but he has plenty of pace, and i’ve taken my chances at 14/1. It’s quite a nice race, and it’s handy that he can get further.

In the Dubai Sheema classic over 12F, i’ve sided with Cavalryman at 6/1. He was well beaten last time out over 10f, but the step up in trip is more efficient for him. A slight concern might be the ground.

I’m going to try my hand again at a double. I’ve taken Vision D’Etat for the classic, and paired him up with Cavalryman and Spanish moon from the Sheema.

I think i need to find a cheaper hobby.

There is a cracking clash between Musir and Mendip in the UAE Derby. Musir looks to have been the most impressive of the two so far, winning the 2000 derby in emphatic style, with a blistering turn of foot. Musir hasn’t been tried over the further distance, although visually it shouldn’t be a problem, and Mike De Kock has won the last few renewals of this race. Mendip is American bred colt, who will head to the Kentucky derby, and they think he will go ‘all the way to the top’. Standing in the way though is De Kocks horse, who looks extremely nice, and his record as mentioned is superb in this race. This isn’t a race that i should go anywhere near with 2 barge polls sellotaped together, especially as i’m going against De Kock, as Mendip should have room for improvement. I also don’t like the idea of going against a horse that Soumillon is riding, especially as it travels well. Anyway, the deed is done at 11/4 for the UAE and 20/1 for the Kentucky to give me interest. I feel uneasy about it. I expect to hear tomorrow that De Kock is expecting a big run. :(
