    A devastating performance – a different league!
A Champion Hurdler in waiting…….however, sadly I suspect that’s not the plan. Like Altior & Shishkin, he’ll go chasing.

Hendo needs a Champion Hurdle horse and I doubt he would want to take Shishkin on if he could help it with one of his own – could well see Jonbon going chasing as he is a very slick jumper and being a brother to Douvan you would think QMCC or Ryanair as I think 2m4f is well within him.

    Hope so Mike.
I’m on Constitution Hill for next season Arkle but after that I’m not so convinced they’ll go that route

LD73 Shishkin will be 10 by the time Constitution Hill turns up in the QMCC so a natural successor i would’ve thought.

I hope CH stays over hurdles and I think he might

That was awesome and he’d have beaten DD anyway.

I think Mr Buckley has already said he will stay over hurdles next season. He has even hinted they might take on Honeysuckle at Punchestown. Why not? He does not need to win another novice race.

Dd was going nowhere, pulling around like that.

More likely to have trailed in than actually compete

I hope Constitution Hill stays over hurdles … he’s tailor-made for them. To put him over fences would be a mistake I feel … remember Thistlecrack? He wasn’t the same horse.

Jonbon is fractionally bigger but both Constitution Hill and Jonbon are big chasing types Mike. But when a horse puts up a performance of that quality over hurdles you’d think they’d keep it over hurdles for a chance at the Champion Hurdle. Especially as the yard already have Shishkin for the 2m chases.

I thought CH may not quite be as good away from the very soft going he had and was so impressive last time, especially with what looked then a slightly rounded action. But some horses do appear able to change actions for the different ground. Round action wasn’t evident today (or may be I was wrong in my assessment last time). What was evident today was although Jonbon is slightly bigger, Constitution Hill imo has a long/er stride, something often found in a top class racehorse.

It was notable when they had the photo with nicky holding both jonbon and Constitution hill in the yard that jonbon was taller but that Constitution had a much longer body and therefore much longer stride

Mike – he could potentially be a dual Champion Hurdler by then too
Broke the course record as well – that screams Champion Hurdle to me

I spose the Champion Hurdle route possibility will also depend on what Honeysuckle does at half 3.
If she wins by miles getting the allowance in a fast time then what?

With the Arkle by Racing Post standard times “fast” it also screams the ground is not truly “good-soft”, LD.

Ginge – indeed, must by near on good racing ground (more by error than design) and I bet there will be an inquest as to why no watering was done to ensure soft (good to soft in places wasn’t achieved) although I don’t hear trainers complaining about it so quite clearly not a welfare issue

Good ground isnt a welfare issue

Any trainer that suggests that either has a stable full of mud larks or is just straight talking nonsense
