I’ve returned to my tried and tested method for big meeting, sort out the four best best and have an EW yankee on the four.
I’ve had a £5 EW Yankee & an extra £5 EW Acc at York

RIP VAN WINKLE Juddmonte
OVERTURN Ebor
PROFOUND BEAUTY OaksI’ve already covered Profound Beauty Ante Post to win just under £600 on Betfair, various sums and prices

August 17, 2010 at 14:32 #313235£5 EW SIRVINO
August 17, 2010 at 16:04 #313248Flat Season Profit £642 excluding the £5 ew yankee
£32.50 win £53.22 place running up on OVERTURN,
£47.85 return so far
Ante Post loss on Profound Beauty only £8 thanks to my free intro betAugust 18, 2010 at 09:08 #313339It’s hard to see past OVERTURN in The Ebor considering his recent form although the class horse in the field is PROSPECT WELLS, I’ll decide whether to add to my running up money later but I will have a saver on the Howard Johnston horse….I expect him to be a high class novice hurdler in the coming season.
£5 ew PROSPECT WELLS
The Kingdom Gold Cup at Killarney has several runners that would trouble the best in The Ebor, Admiral Barry looks too close in the weights to Alpine Eagle, Myrine has been hammered by the handicapper for her stunning win at Ballinrobe, Spinning Wings, Deutschland and Easy Mate look the best of the rest but the 147 rated hurdler BAHRAIN STORM should be good enough despite his weight.
I think KING OF WANDS can cope with the step up in class, this isn’t the best Group 2 race I’ve ever seen and with Ask missing the race he can step up on his Sandown win.
TEMPLE MEADS looked a star in the making at Newbury so it’s 3 x £5 ew doubles £5 ew TrebleAugust 18, 2010 at 16:07 #313409£17.50 EW BAHRAIN STORM (Kingdom Gold Cup) form got a boost in The Ebor
August 18, 2010 at 18:21 #313444Another expensive lesson in what I should have learned decades ago….well I did learn it decades ago but I’ve been breaking my own rules recently.
No Handicaps, No Two Year Olds,
Well NO MORE after today!!!! I may miss the odd winner but there’s no way to make these races pay across a season, take it from me.Summer Flat Profit drops to £490.22
August 18, 2010 at 18:43 #313455why the sad face your still in profit
August 18, 2010 at 19:23 #313462why the sad face your still in profit
Fair Comment but what’s annoyed me is that recently I’ve been losing hard earned profits by breaking all my own rules and losing my betting discipline.
That said, for me summer racing is just a bit of fun but I should know better than to be betting in the sort of races I lost money in today and I’d feel very guilty if anyone followed my selections.
I’ve been at this game for a very long time and if I can help others avoid the pitfalls it’s taken me years to identify I’ll be doing what I set out to do when I signed up for TRF.
It’s been many years since I failed to make a profit from racing, certainly not since I stopped betting on the flat.
My target for every NH season is a five figure profit on £10 a point stakes, my flat & NH combined summer bets are showing a four figure profit from £1 a point stakes so I’m on target so I shouldn’t complain but I have dropped a few hundred recently.August 20, 2010 at 12:49 #313788Had planned a large bet on The Real Article in The QR at Killarney but he’s been withdrawn leaving the race at the mercy of ENDLESS INTRIGUE
£50 Win Double with another Dermot Weld horse, UNACCOMPANIED in the 5.20August 20, 2010 at 19:31 #313900Double landed £201.25 Profit
Flat Season Profit £691.47
Now it’s time to play some up on ROSES FOR THE LADY at The Curragh tomorrow
August 20, 2010 at 19:35 #313902cs.nice double good luck with your next bet
August 20, 2010 at 19:47 #313907cs.nice double good luck with your next bet
Thanks, they really picked themselves once The Real Article was withdrawn. Two good quality horses from a proper stable
I’ve given myself a good talking too so I won’t be betting on crap horse in crap races any more.
Sariska was just one of those things, Royal Etiquette was taken out of the race by a faller….a poor jumper in a poor race…. but Wijikura’s effort was an absolute disgrace.
August 21, 2010 at 08:16 #313971One "BET" today
£40 EW ROSES FOR THE LADY
I’m just about to go out for the day, no betting up so I hope she’s not too short a price.
I’ve been having a slightly half hearted go at Bob Rolf’s tipping competition, haven’t really got the time to give my full attention to another competition but we all need to support these events to give them credibility
Four picks today (see below) so I’ve had a 25pEW Yankee & 25Pew acc on my selecions, just incase.
ROSES FOR THE LADY (NAP)3.25 Curragh
MOONLIT GARDEN 2.55 Curragh
GLOR NA MARA 4.25 Curragh
PHRASE 5.30 CurraghAugust 21, 2010 at 14:06 #314018Fantastic double yesterday Ken, Endless INtrigue didn’t win as I expected though.
Made very heavy weather of it but an inch is as good as a mile
