After an encouraging debut he looks certain to be suited by this step up in trip and the front pair in the market look ridiculously short priced now

January 19, 2012 at 09:36 #387356Just as I am prone to bowling every few overs or so a runner that interests me at Wolverhampton is

in the 6.30. Stepped up to 12f last time out he pulled far to hard close up to a moderate pace before eventually taking up a lead having not settled for the best part of half the race. He still wasn’t beaten to far in the end but his early exertions certainly took their toll in the final furlong. Previously he was much more encouraging when returning to the polly track a strong finishing fourth behind Snow Dancer and Chosen Forever, granted Snowy came from a bit further back but I took a lot of encouragement from that run at the time certain he would be good enough off his current mark to win over conditions he has today which he is certainly most effective under. Though he hasn’t won in two years he had a fair absence from the track with what I can only assume was an injury and only having had five runs for Jim Goldie he’s very well handicapped for the northern based trainer to exploit.

January 19, 2012 at 10:33 #387358TBH: Unlucky with Legal Legacy, given a very good ride IMO and almost nicked the race.
January 19, 2012 at 11:20 #387363Cheers GDC, thought he had it once he sneaked up the far side rail! Stable doing ok with their runners lately and with limited ammunition. Yard still in it’s infancy may just do well in 2012 as they get one or two better horses!
According to the betting this
Chariot Charger
may well have lost a limb in the 3.50 at Taunton but he looks worth a bet as he is creeping out now. I don’t think he will be inconvenienced by this drop in trip and on the evidence of his jumping last time out he will be suited going this way round. I was expecting him favourite for this at around 4/1

January 20, 2012 at 09:36 #387474Carrietau and Laterly rarely give anyone a lead and so this two mile chase shouldn’t be run at a false pace that’s for sure which leads me to the conclusion to look for a closer. Altan Khan is easily forgiven his last couple of runs and this looks a good opportunity to get back on track. A hold up horse that wants a good pace to run at on a sharp track on decent ground it will be hard to find excuses for him if he isn’t competitive. He has always looked a horse that would take to fences and he did so in good style on his chase debut in a handicap at Sedgefield when a comfortable winner even with two coming down at the final fence. I felt he just had a bit too much to do at Carlisle next time out when trying to catch the more prominetly ridden front pair including the progressive Quicuyo who is hard horse to pass when he gets in front but still went down staying on to the line less than two lengths down and miles clear of the fourth. He still has more to come yet and will win more chases and he looks over priced this morning.

January 27, 2012 at 09:30 #388471The Pertemps Handicap Hurdle at 3.10 looks a really good race at Huntingdon and an ideal opportunity for Sir Kezbah to continue his progress from last year. He did nothing but improve once upped in trip last season and an extra two furlongs should hold little fear. Jeremy Scott had a memorable start to the season this year and well not in that type of form now of those starting in October and November on a 100+ day absence record read 15/8 (53%) wins 15/9 (60%) placed with an SP P/L of +26.01 and with Sir Kezbah himself having a very respectable record running fresh of 3,2,2 I can’t see any reason not to support him and he looks well over priced.
2pt win Sir Kezbah 12/1 general
Follow The Flag looks well worth a try at this trip today in the 7.10, he is a lazy sod at the best of times but any ability he once had to win races at around a mile look long gone. He took a long time to get going last time out and when he did he thundered home late for second place behind an impressive winner, his last win was at 11f at Southwell and he wasn’t coming to the end of his run when stepped up 12f after that and on his performance last time out if he gets this longer trip then he’s got a good chance

Not as bad a run as it looked lto, fair pace on and was always at the rough end of that. Won’t have a problem coming back in trip and may get his own way in front.

again, could find herself with a comfortable time out in front. Less excuses for her last run than her previous two where she had wide draws and had to work a lot harder to lead but worth one more chance.

February 4, 2012 at 10:00 #389749A few runners I like the look of today at the prices include Cashelgar in the 3.35 at Lingfield, encouraging come back run last time out and this looks an easier task, has plenty of back class and looks the most likely winner of this event to me. Over at Wolves in the 2.40 I don’t think this is much of a race and one Hazard County really should be winning, Norville ranks as the danger but otherwise I can’t see much there to get concerned about, Piscean will break and pull hard wondering why they aren’t going a five furlong pace and his race will be finished after 2 furlongs. Mr Willis looks a fair chace outsider in the 3:00 at Lingfield where some of the market leaders look a little over estimated.

March 16, 2012 at 12:43 #397195Hello anyone reading!
Long time no post but it wasn’t a case of abandonment I had some password problems but David decided I was tipping so bad he wouldn’t send me a new one three weeks

At this stage the thread is 20.5pts in profit and I shall persist so still active and looking forward to the flat season!
March 17, 2012 at 12:22 #397431Following the Midlands National at 3.55 is a nice little 3 mile handicap chase for novices and the lightly raced Robobar could prove the answer. A seven year old French import for Ian Williams he was making his UK debut last time out at Towcester having last run in December 2010 and he was running a decent race until unshipping his rider three from home when well in contention around third place and still travelling well despite showing a tendency to jump left handed. No doubt he’ll come a long on that run and stable have been operating well for a while now and he looks to have plenty of scope for improvement, he looks sure to get the step up in distance (brother to a three mile chase winner in France) and the left handed track should suit.
1pt win 11/1

March 17, 2012 at 17:14 #397468Good to see you back tb! I was beginning to think you were one of the many ‘bottlers’ who cant hack it!
March 17, 2012 at 18:02 #397477Titchwood went in @ 20’s in a bumper for Hillary Parrot – looks like a nice horse
March 17, 2012 at 18:44 #397487Haha no bottling here Gordon, well done at Chelt my friend, was a good one, work starts for 2013 now

Beau Ranger does looks a nice type, family owned and trained I see so maybe they’ll hold onto it but wouldn’t be surprised if they got a good offer for him seeing as his dam was a half sister to to Blazing Bailey, good spot sir!
