Errr not doing too well this Christmas and keeping backing the wrong Mullins horses, hope I haven’t put a hex on them today!
Just backed a few today mostly old pals like little Dandy Mag who should be happier over hurdles. Bapaume has plenty of back class over the smaller obstacles and another- being a small horse- who should appreciate not having to clamber over fences. Unfortunately only 3 places now a couple dropped out so win only . Bacardys is race fit and usually solid over the staying trip.
Missed the price on my new crush Allaho
but will back him anyway and good old Melon should run a solid race.Leo

December 29, 2020 at 01:48 #1515734A better day today thanks to bold little Dandy Mag who got out and zoomed past.
Can’t complain about the Savills; APT looked lovely in the paddock, jumped brilliantly when it mattered and thoroughly deserved the win. Allaho overjumped and pitched on landing a bit to start but wised up and jumped a bit better in the second half of the race.
Bapaume didn’t hurdle too badly but didn’t travel a yard. For Tuesday:
Hoping big double D has worn his face mask and socially distanced from Altior. He’s a fine big beast and a horse I’ve been looking forward to seeing out.
On this side of the ditch, the maiden hurdle at 12.40 contains some interesting horses including Glens of Antrim, who’s far from the finished article so no bet but very much liked the look of her as a future prospect.
Concertista looked a bit fat when she cantered past Minella Melody so I’m hoping she’ll come on plenty to give the weight away. Might add MM ew tomorrow.
In the 1.50 I’m very interested to watch Eurobot with a view to the not-the-4miler at Cheltenham.
Mullins sounded slightly cool on Saldier due to the layoff but he must have been nearly ready at the time of the Morgiana and has a good record fresh. Hope the coolness isn’t due to any struggle to keep him sound- the problem last year was dismissed as something and nothing and the nose cruncher shouldn’t have left chronic problems unless it has screwed up his sinuses; but his fragility has been alluded to more recently. Stable preview sounded more positive about Sharjah and he has won this the last twice but he is a little fatso who normally needs a run; granted he has probably done more work at home this year as starting later and the yard’s horses seem well tuned up at present. Saint Roi/Aba/Aspire- meh. Prove it. “The Morgiana was a messy race” …yes, but maybe they’re not all that.
I’ll wait and see what the ground is like.1.15 Leo Concertista evs 3 pts win
1.30 New Dickie Diver 5-1 1pt winDecember 29, 2020 at 09:40 #1515744Lovely winner GAG- Mullins is flying, but there was no way i could see him winning haha!
Very unlucky with Melon too.
Was tempted to go with Saldier too, but i’ve just left the race completely!

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 29, 2020 at 12:21 #1515761Thanks Jack. Just read Mullins Sportinglife review of the Savills where he said Allaho was disappointing and he expects a lot more from him. Good.

December 29, 2020 at 13:16 #1515770Thanks VtC. He’s a good wee horse who just struggled with fences.
2.25 Leo Saldier 10s 2.5pt ew 3pl
He was Ruby’s tip to win the CH last year so unless a leg has fallen off, should be capable of placing today.
December 31, 2020 at 12:27 #1515907Very interesting beginners chase coming up that will take a bit off getting. Ridiculous to back 3 in an 8 horse race but they should all cope with ground and trip, and had gentle educational rides thus far this season
