Munster National Day, and I’m at a bloody wedding. No choice but to record it, and watch later.
It’ll hopefully be worth it with Nambour. He’s a fair bet for me, and if he continues to get bet the way he is right now, I’ll lay off before the race, or before I head out.
Internal Transfer is the backup.
Irish Cesarewitch is always a decent race, and I’ll be with Dalton Highway and Baba Boom.
Big step up in trip for Romantic Proposal at The Curragh, but she’s earned it, and I had to take a chance that she’ll progress again, and was happy with 20’s Each Way.

I notice you put up Growl yesterday. Never in with a chance from box 16 in a race dominated by low numbers. He’s holding his condition well and I wouldn’t give up on him just yet for this term.
The draw was an odd one as the previous days 5f contest was dominated by high numbers bar the winner Moss Gill who seems to be flying at the moment.

October 14, 2019 at 21:05 #1467867Nambour was a disappointment yesterday, but as he was my third biggest bet of the season so far, I was very very happy to have made that lay. The perfect example of why I do these lays now. I sat and watched it at the wedding, and it felt like a winner.
Great run from Dalton Highway, and I’ll follow him next season for sure. Solid, dependable type.
I thought I was on to a winner with Romantic Proposal, she halved in price, but got withdrawn. Noted.
October 14, 2019 at 21:10 #1467868Yeah Rob, totally agree on Growl, he’s been back to his best the last few runs, and he’s definitely worth another go.
Hope you enjoyed yourself at York, went to that meeting in 2015, and loved it.
October 14, 2019 at 22:07 #1467879I’m at a bloody wedding.
for Romantic Proposal…happy with 20’s Each Way.
Hmmm I know you have sentimental bets sometimes but…
October 15, 2019 at 14:34 #1467916Funny you mention that Grass.
Romantic Proposal is a horse I really like anyway, but on that note, I did mention to the groom on Saturday that The Knot Is Tied was running.
Unfortunately he bet it.
October 19, 2019 at 13:52 #1470858DT paid for your day…you can have some fun now!
October 19, 2019 at 14:00 #1470862Unbelievable Grass, I thought he was cooked. He met interference, not once but twice. Love him, and I wish him a happy retirement.
I didn’t get a chance to do my usual waffle this morning, I got in from playing Fives just in time to get the forecast on, but I’ll be playing every race at Ascot now.
I was just going to stick with The Sprint, Champion, and Balmoral.
I’ll also do Coole Cody and The Mouse Doctor as well.
October 19, 2019 at 19:38 #1470926Well done sticking with the don Vtc
October 19, 2019 at 21:14 #1470935Thanks Botch, over the moon with him.
October 20, 2019 at 00:16 #1470955Doesn’t seem right dwelling too long on Saturdays action, after the loss of Wicklow Brave, so I’ll keep it brief.
Donjuan Triumphant was biggest win of the season by far at 40’s, and things went pretty well as the day went on.
Fox Tal got me a very nice profit in running, and just for a brief moment I thought he was going to do it. A definite horse to follow. Veracious made the four at 25’s in The Queen Elizabeth, which was another decent lift.
Chiefofchiefs ran a screamer, and a drop of a few pounds will see him landing a big prize next year, and Escobar topped things off nicely, winning at 16’s.
Last three weekends have been decent, and today was best day of my season by some stretch.
Possibly have one or two tomorrow, but still reeling from poor Wicklow, so can’t face it tonight, so will sleep on it. Tough night that after a great day.
October 20, 2019 at 13:44 #1470991I should leave alone today, as really fancied Hong Kong at Naas today, but didn’t want to bet at that price, (edit, I didn’t realise he’d be 11-2 FFS) but after yesterday, I’ll go with these guys.
I always like a bet in The Durham National, and as he can go fresh, and has some high level runs in the book, I thought 8’s was fair for Kingswell Theatre, from a yard who can target these staying prizes. Drift a bit of a concern, but he looks worth a try.
Seems an age since I bet Squouateur for Cheltenham, and he has had his sights lowered since. I thought 8’s was too big.
Castle Guest is a bit harder to make a case for at Naas, and the ground would be a concern, but I do like the yard, and I’ve seen slivers of encouragement. Took 22’s to five places, though there’ll be a R4.
1635 Naas
Castle Guest, Lightsider
50p Reverse Forecast-£111.80
October 21, 2019 at 10:53 #1472209Really happy with that run from Kingswell Theatre yesterday. He got into a smashing rhythm, and his jumping was slick. Comfortably got my cash back, and I’ll definitely go with him again.
Squouateur really got backed in the lead up, and I intended laying off, but he then drifted like a barge before the off. He’ll be bet again this season I’m sure, but strictly when he’s a price.
Less said about Castle Guest the better.
October 27, 2019 at 23:56 #1473025Quiet weekend then, but I’m going to bet a few tomorrow, as I’ll be watching the racing anyway, as there are a few I’m wanting to run the rule over at Galway and Wexford.
Funnily enough, the ones I’m interested in, aren’t the ones I’ll be betting.
At Galway, Miracles In May has work to do with a fair hike in the weights, but at around 7’s, I’m fairly hopeful of a lay in running to at least get cash back.
Happy that the chances of the others are hard to justify, but if one of them places I’ll be happy.
At Wexford, Mc Alpine, and The Long Mile are probably for Handicaps in the near future, but at around 14’s and 66’s, I’m playing for third place.
Finally I’ll go for Tralee Hills at Kempton. The highlights of my season should never include a Class 5 Handicap at Bath, but was the case last year. Tralee winning at 33’s, with Hayley Turner Up, certainly was one of the highlights, and I also followed him next time too. I was happy to leave him after that, with the intention of only backing him if Turner was up again. Bet him during the summer, but Turner ended up being replaced, and I was kicking myself. He’s 33’s again tomorrow (and drifting), and although recent runs are poor, he’s slipping down the weights, and I’ll take a chance.
October 29, 2019 at 17:53 #1473144That went better than expected yesterday, with three of the four paying their way.
Particularly happy with Tralee Hills, and but for getting squeezed, would probably have won, but having got 40’s, I was happy enough.
November 3, 2019 at 14:15 #1473852Didn’t really get a chance to post here yesterday, but happy enough with how things went in The Big Races.
LBAR was only a small bet at 4’s, but she was still disappointing, while I had a bigger bet on Keyboard Gangster at Ayr, and he continues to frustrate. The problem I have with him is that I think he’s got a good win in him, but I’ll wait and see with him. Man of Plenty was another loser at Ascot, but he was only a speculative one.
Gumball was much kinder in the same race, and I couldn’t believe the 9’s. Regal Encore more than paid his way again at 25’s, just love him, and also decent EW Returns from Alpha Des Obeaux at 22’s (edit, sorry, just realised this is an aftertime)
All in all a good day, and definitely trying again today.
November 3, 2019 at 14:26 #1473854I’ve went with Woods Well in The Cork National, along with Out Sam. Looks a tight race, but if any joy in the earlier races, I’ll add The Gatechecker each way.
In the preceding race, one of my favourites, Any Second Now is back out. I’ve missed the price on him, he’s getting hammered. I was going to cover him, but not at 7-2, so I’ll stick with Daly Tiger, who I’ve had my eye on for a while now. He’s around 6’s, that looks fair.
The big Handicap at Naas is a cracker. Dalton Highway at 9’s looks one of the safest each way bets of the season so far to 9 places, and I’ll give another chance to Great White Shark at 12’s on the nose.
Last but not least is the legend that’s Harry The Viking. He either wins this or gets detached, but I’ve bet him each way anyway. I suppose he might have The Borders National as the target, but he won this two years back, he’s low enough in the weights for me, and with Betfred going 3 Places, I had to take 18’s.
