That was quite impressive though I thought that the amateur aboard GW wasn’t too hard on the horse before they went into the straight.
Only the first three really mattered, but GDC won’t win a 3rd Gold Cup.
I hope Inothewayurthinkin is okay, but I still don’t know why he was asked to jump that fence when already 80 lengths behind.

    WD winners.

I couldn’t have been more wrong but Willie knew. That’s why they were in the race. Galopin gas been run into the ground over the years and looks prematurely finished.

About every antepost bet I’ve done for the festival is down now.

I was so sure Fact To File would be in the Ryanair. I had him in about every one of them for it.

The GC is even cloudier now , they’ll have to send FTF now so that blows the Ryanair wide open to ..

Didn’t see that coming to be fair – Fact To File seems to have found more stamina than he had previously in this race, I imagine he is now Gold Cup bound after that and maybe best left fresh.

GW has run a cracker considering how much energy he wasted in not settling and that he usually doesn’t run his best at the course – GDC has run well but I can fully accept that age is likely catching up with him. If FTF goes to the Gold Cup then you would imagine Jonbon steps in as his owner’s deputy in the Ryanair.

Finally, I am so so glad for Mark Walsh riding all those G1 winners which is sticking a firm middle finger to JP for his decision to go with Cobden (nothing against Harry but I don’t think he could have ridden any of those horses Walsh won on any better).

Walsh has been class in how he has dealt with this whole situation and has given the proper response by doing the job on the track as his ultimate answer.

What a performance by Fact to File . Gaelic ran very well and GDC a good run but like Novak yesterday, Father Time has caught up with him (excellent run by Firefox too).
Don’t think the Cromwell horse will even turn up in March now- last year is looking more and more like a fluke . Fact to File and Spillane’s Tower are now surely Gold Cup bound for JP and Gaelic has to go Ryanair (to meet Jonbon) as I don’t think he’ll get up that hill. Don’t know why Don and Gary sound surprised at a Mullins 1-2-3 though – he had 60% of the field and the first 5 in the betting so hardly earth-shattering.

There’s no way JP is going Ryanair after that. Horrendous result for me. Just about the worst possible outcome.

I know one thing , Walsh is making sure Cobden is starting the JP gig under massive pressure , he’s done the business the last few weeks

Probably not as he’s won an Arkle.

Not Patrick’s worst ride green but he just can’t settle a horse at all. Gaelic Warrior has run some race.

Fact To File looked the winner from the half way point but stamina was always a worry.

Fact To File becoming one of those impossibe to catch right horses for me. Whether he is now the full package after a series of excuses, who knows? Maybe the stars aligned today, because beating that field with ears pricked looks like a 180+ performance taken at face value. Why Mullins runs him here (well supported too) but doesn’t put him in the Gold Cup is beyond me too.

    LD73,

Walsh is 40 in a few weeks and has been well looked after by McManus.

He can’t go on forever. Walsh, McCoy and Geraghty all retired at the same age.

    Great EW shout, Bobby.

Will Townend jump ship and ride GW at Cheltenham, just in case they go for the Gold Cup?

Fact to File so settled and does everything straightforward
Mullins may have to shuffle the pack and Gaelic Warrior could end up in the Ryanair but considering the going should be better in March I wouldn’t write him off as a Gold Cup horse. Townend will want to ride a live GC horse

He’s not a speed horse Mike , he’s not the gears of FTF , I’ve backed Heartwood and Handstands ( a few times in the latter’s case ) but like many I had FTF in plenty Ryanair accas

I’d say that run from Fact To File is as good as anything Galopin has done. It was a phenomenal run.
