Was happy to sit this out after the Antepost loser, but even with the prospect of a few withdrawals, it looks a cracker

I Am Maximus is a fairly big price to me on The Savills run, and I thought 14’s fair. Firefox is a strange one. Seems to be the obvious one to be the outsider of the field, and stamina doubts, but I like the Bowen booking. Decent enough in his own right, and I had to have a go

    Firefox 66’s EW4Pls
    I Am Maximus 14’s

    Re-Arranged

Surprised the bets were cancelled. I Am Maximus at 9’s, so not sure, but back with Firefox

    Firefox 70’s EW4Pls/90’s

According to the last going update the chase course is soft to heavy right now with another 10-20 mm of rain expected over night. I think we’ll see a lot of non-runners should the meeting go ahead.

I should look at this in the morning, so to avoid any potential rule 4’s, but I’ve just went just now

Spindleberry 8-1, and Lecky Watson 50-1 ew 4 places

I went with Bobby’s Firefox at 66/1 EW and added Monty’s Star at 40/1 EW. I still can’t see GDC, GW and the Cromwell horse competing maybe just for 2nd or 3rd place prize-money in the expected grueling conditions.

    7/4 Galopin des Champs

His conditions, his track, form should be good enough now.

Bet365 are offering 4 places and have boosted Spindleberry to 10-1 so I took that, and added Champ Kiely at 100-1 too. He jumped (quite well) the whole course loose at Christmas, then was turned out at Tramore 4 days later- presumably to get his mark down. Same aim here probably but Grangeclare West forgot to read the script last year, perhaps Champ can do similar.

Affordale Fury seems to be getting the Solness treatment from the market – an assumption that a classy victory last season was somehow a one-off. My boots are much smaller than they used to be, but I’ll be filling them today, with a saver on Grangeclare West.

Fancy Galopin strongly for this but he’s just too short for me.

    Montys Star – 45/1 w/o Galopin.

Yes no one fancies Affordale but the stable form of Meade, de Bromhead and Cromwell has been shocking so with Mullins having 8 out of 13, its very likely to be a 1-2-3 for Closutton. Lots of love for Spindleberry but Gaelic Warrior is a very talented animal. He didn’t get a good ride from Townend at Kempton and they missed a trick not bringing Cobden over, but the prodigal Patrick hopefully won’t mess it up and i’ll go with him to edge out GDC with the mare third.

I can’t have Gaelic Warrior on this ground and i don’t understand why Spindleberry is only 10/1. I’m sure JP would love to win this race, but no Fact To File for me on this ground and the Cromwell horse has shown nothing in two heavy defeats this season.
I have added Lecky Watson 33/1 EW.

I can’t have Gaelic or Fact to File. One is better right handed and the other doesn’t stay.

I’m surprised either is running here to be honest.

Maybe I’ll look silly in a few minutes time though.

I think Galopin is going to be far too good for this lot on testing ground.

Edit: I’ve just added Galopin at 4/1 to win by over 3L. WH Price Boost.

Had him in my TTF, didn’t have a bean on him today. Ho hum. WD VtC with the ew on Firefox.
Good race. Credit to Patrick Mullins who I am always slagging, he managed not to balls up, that was a decent ride.
