Usual high quality field here, but a few at bigger prices catching the eye
I think the cats out the bag with plans for I Am Maximus this year, after his last run, and a bit surprised at 16’s. At a similar price is Haiti Couleurs, and wouldn’t surprise me to see Curtis let him take his chance here. 16’s really appeals
The one I have bet at the moment is Three Card Brag. Lots of improvement to find, but I think he could, and after following him without actually betting him for a couple of years, feel it’s time to put a few quid his way
Edit – Top up 66’s, but Non Runner
Haiti Couleurs

January 11, 2026 at 21:22 #1750171From a pure value perspective i’d have thought Grangeclare West is big at 33/1.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 13, 2026 at 05:20 #1750308Mullins will have a race planned for West some where but I’ll be buggered if I know which 1 , the Mullins horses will surely play follow my leader here however if Lecky Watson runs I’ll have a tickle , it’s all about watching the Cromwell horse ..

January 26, 2026 at 15:06 #1752046Hopefully the ground isn’t borderline unraceable because the meeting will lose some of its interest.
Affordable Fury might not run in that case
I doubt Fact To File would either.Anyone on HC each way at big prices is looking good
January 26, 2026 at 15:36 #1752069Galopin to bring the house down with a record equalling 4th win in the race.
January 27, 2026 at 13:47 #1752142There going to inspect the course tomorrow for the DRF due to storm and torrential rain they had, but they say positive it will pass with no more bad rain forecast and good drainage

January 27, 2026 at 13:56 #1752145They’ve had over 2 inches of rain in 24 hours which is outrageous.
January 27, 2026 at 13:57 #1752146At the moment David Wilkie looks a good thing in the first
January 27, 2026 at 14:28 #1752158Course is currently described as ‘waterlogged’ and ‘unraceable’ in places this morning after 58mm (just over 2″) of rain, which brings the grand total of rain for the last 12 days at 165mm (just over 6″).
If they race (which it must be a growing if) it will be right up GDC alley but you would hope that he doesn’t get into a slugfest because it could take awhile to recover from such a race.
January 27, 2026 at 15:37 #1752165LD73, I think he has no chance at Cheltenham after Saturday, especially with Haiti Couleurs coming over and likely to set a stiff pace.
There’s just not enough time in between for a 10yo to recover.January 27, 2026 at 18:39 #1752188From Sporting Life racing an hr ago….
“Paddy Power now make it 1/6 that Leopardstown are able to stage the opening day of the Dublin Racing Festival on Saturday. Earlier on Tuesday the price was only 10/11”
January 27, 2026 at 18:41 #1752189It’s their biggest meeting if the year, so they’ll do their utmost to get it on.
And you got evens, cash out available until 09:00 Monday morning.
January 28, 2026 at 02:50 #1752202GM23 – One thing that is to his advantage is that it is only his 2nd run of the season and they obviously had to back off him when he got injured and missed his intended comeback in the John Durkan at the start of the season.
To me his comeback run (until fitness found him out going to the last) suggests that he is no back number and I also think his Gold Cup run last season was a fair bit below his very best as from some way out he looked…….out of sorts and Townend quickly accepted things and was easy on him from the last. I felt it was a mistake to then go for the Punchestown Gold Cup after that, as in previous years when he had won the Gold Cup he always seemed to underperform when going on to that race but last season he was spectacular and ran them all stupid.
I think the race may very well tell us much more as to where he’s at now, as he will be properly race fit and the ground looks like it will be more in his favour and probably against some of the others. Nothing has convinced me (yet) that he isn’t still the best staying chaser in Ireland.
January 28, 2026 at 05:19 #1752204I’m sorry but there was no excuse given on GC day , he wasn’t out of sorts he was just beaten by the better horse on the day , he was clear of the rest of the field
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026

The course officials sound confident the meeting will go ahead. I only hope the ground is not like a quagmire.
January 28, 2026 at 15:33 #1752249HDLG – I viewed it differently as early on in the race he didn’t seem to be travelling like he normal does and I think it was even mentioned in the commentary during the race.
That being said, I do agree that he was beaten by the better horse on the day but I just don’t think he was at his very best (which it would have required to win) but especially when you consider what he did at Punchestown next time out where he beat Monty’s Star much further and more easily than he did in the Gold Cup.
With regards to the ground, when heavy ground starts to dry out it does get very sticky/holding and thus takes more effort to gallop through – if it is going to be like that on the day then oddly they could probably do with a small amount of rain to make it easier to get through.
Fingers firmly crossed that the meeting survives.
