That’s a hell of an effort in the 2.05, Mark. Well done.
February 4, 2010 at 10:26 #273881Cheers MG,
Could’ve been a lot better with two main bets beaten by horses returning to form out of the blue.
So to Today:
3:20 Wincanton

When it is with Bet Fred!
Asked for an each way on Far From Blonde @ 6/1 (1:50 Wincanton) which is on oddschecker as a 1/4 odds for first two places. And they refused the bet. And a 7 runner race to boot!

Wasn’t even a big bet!

30 points @ 15/2 (C) Oiseau De NuitCan’t believe this price, in my opinion it is one of the bets of the season. Should be almost half that price.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 6, 2010 at 10:24 #274338Why’s that ginger? Ok he’s improving but you have some very good horses in the race, Kalahari King could probably win even at 80% fitness, Free World is improving, Leo’s Lucky Star etc…ODN won well last time but has gone up a few pounds and will need to improve again IMO.

Have saved on Leos, but forgot to put it up here. Now the price has gone. Thing that puts me off him is inconsistancy in the past. Though may be a different horse this term, just might be best fresh.
Kalahari King is a obviously a good horse, but the vibes from the Murphy yard are not good. Usually those who drift from that yard don’t win. Has also been injured since his good form. Don’t particularly rate the Arkle or Aintree form either. Stable companion is interesting if there’s a market move for it.
ODN’s form had a big boost when Green Belt Flyer won easily at Wincanton this week. If the rate of improvement carrys on will be very difficult to beat. Trainer in very good form.
I make ODN a 20% 4/1 shot.Like Free World but he’s just too short.
Like Tartak as a horse, just wonder if this is going to be too quick for him, jumping might not hold up.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 7, 2010 at 13:40 #274663You were right Rich.
Kalahari King won with a good deal in hand. Despite the trainer’s words beforehand.
Hope you had a good bet on it!Value Is EverythingFebruary 11, 2010 at 11:29 #275566Ryanair Chase
11 points each way Schindler’s Hunt 16/1 (L)Showed at the weekend he’s back to his best. Every chance at the last before failing to stay 3 miles on soft ground. Third in this race last year behind Imperial Commander (goes for the Gold Cup), and Voy Por who’s shown none of his brilliance this term. Joncol may be better on softer, Poquelin yet to show he’s top class. Ditto Tranquil Sea and to a certain degree Barber’s Shop.
Schindler’s Hunt sometimes finds less than anticipated, which is why I’ve said each way. Another way might be to back win only and lay back two out.Value Is EverythingFebruary 11, 2010 at 12:26 #275582Queen Mother Champion Chase
17 points each way @ 6/1 (T, L, WH) Kalahari KingWith there being a short priced fav this is a good each way race. Wanted to get a bet in before Master Minded runs on Saturday, as he’ll have to be impressive for KK’s 6/1 to lengthen.
Am a great fan of MM, backed him at 12’s ante-post when he won it first time round. But has not put up a performance anywhere near that class in over a year now (even before his ribb problem).
Want to be against Twist Magic as still think he’s got quirks and may even plant himself at the start. May need to lead to show his best (though may get that in March).
Big Zeb has class but does he jump well enough for Cheltenham? Does he act there and does he travel well (away from Ireland)?
Petit Robin is the other one I considered. Did well to last as far as he did after jumping badly right-handed at Ascot. Most of his best form is left-handed, placed in this race last year and young enough to improve. 16/1 looks too big for him too.
Was not a fan of Kalahari King before last weekend’s run. But undoubtedly improved for a rest. Sprinted clear with a good deal in hand of a competitive field, under top weight. Not sure I believe earlier reports of not being fit for it. Anyway, should improve further and Ferdy is a past master at getting them spot on for Cheltenham. Second in the Arkle last year when hold up tactics were possibly overdone, placed in the Supreme the year before.Value Is Everything - AuthorPosts
