Luxembourg at the prices makes the most appeal.
Paddington at the weights makes most appeal, also if its a moderately run race
Emily makes most appeal if its run at break neck pace
Going condition will play apart in stamina/speed
I’ll probably play Luxembourg if his price holds up nearer the time and the going isn’t on the fast sideWas there a reason why Paddington didn’t run in the 2000 guineas.??

July 4, 2023 at 17:36 #1654387I don’t like the way the betting is going today for Luxembourg. The writing
could be on the wall unless there is a deluge of biblical proportions.July 4, 2023 at 17:43 #1654389Just saw your post Nathan, I’m hoping against hope that Luxembourg
makes it, but there’s certainly not much confidence in the market
for him today.July 4, 2023 at 17:48 #1654390There’s a chance he won’t run, BigG
He’s too big a price at 20’s if he does
Luxembourg certainly ain’t no pace maker and running slow will dent his own chance
That yard will be out to gain future stud fees for Paddington and they won’t want him having a harder race than necessarily which it will be with Lux in the fieldO’Brien will probably pull one, depending on the going and whose running well at home

July 4, 2023 at 17:50 #1654391If Luxembourg runs, he’s the value in the same way Mostahdaf was the value at 20/1 the night before at Royal Ascot.
As I said about Mostahdaf then, Luxembourg hasn’t got much to find on the OR.
But he’s out to 23 at the Exchange and £1 at 34 is all that’s being requested as I write.
Luxembourg might still run and they might even take out Paddington – stranger things really have happened – but I can’t have money on Luxembourg for value purposes until I see him in the 48-hour decs.
I honestly don’t think Luxembourg can beat Paddington, but, if after being declared Luxembourg is still 15 times the price when he’s only got a pound to find on OR, it would be value betting heresy not to have a bit on him.

He was a bit backward back then.
July 5, 2023 at 12:03 #1654422Personally I think I’m leaning towards EmilyUpjohn over Paddington. The latter is carrying 7lb less but hasn’t ran more than 1m.
But then there’s the question whether Luxembourg will beat both of them. The current price says no.
Hhmmm a bit to ponder yet.
July 5, 2023 at 12:35 #1654424On the subject of Paddington, and following my successful one-man campaign to get Chaldean pronounced correctly, can everyone in the racing media stop making excruciatingly bad marmalade sandwich jokes every time he runs?
Thanks.
July 5, 2023 at 16:21 #1654432That statement tends to imply there might be some good marmalade sandwich jokes out there – one has one’s doubts.
Anyway, I see Paddy Power shortening up Luxembourg to 12/1 – nice try, but he’s 28 at their own exchange and £1 at 1000 is all that’s being requested.
All the signs are Luxembourg will be taken out tomorrow morning.

An interesting race but the step up from 3yo company will be the true test of Paddingtons ability
Personally I think he will be better at 10f, his breeding certainly suggests he will be

July 6, 2023 at 10:31 #1654490Luxembourg the one who is out – unlucky, BigG.
Now is probably not the best time to be a smartarse and say the first rule of ante-post betting is make sure you’re on an intended runner.
But that wouldn’t have helped Anmaat backers either.
Like Arnie, you’ll be back.
