“I do think Paddington has done something similar before.”
    Ryan Moore certainly has….
Notnowcato wins Coral-Eclipse Stakes after tactical ride
08 July 2007 by By Rob Burnet
The Sir Michael Stoute trained five-year-old entire Notnowcato confounded the experts and won the Group I Coral-Eclipse Stakes (2000m) at Sandown, England, on Saturday after a clever ride from jockey Ryan Moore outwitted the more fancied rivals Authorized and George Washington.

Ryan took Notnowcato to the stands side of the Sandown course after the bend and ran his race by himself, but crucially ahead of the others racing on the far side of the course.

Ryan had walked the course and determined that the stands side was drying out well, and this was the route he took to considerable success winning by 1 1/2L over the rest.

On the other side of the course English Derby winner Authorized (Montjeu), trained by Peter Chapple-Hyam, won the battle for second over Aidan O’Brien’s George Washington (Danehill), with the margin a head, and 1 1/4L back to another O’Brien runner Yellowstone.

Going on the basis of what is known rather than what might be (i.e. stamina) , I slightly prefer Emily Upjohn over Paddington, however I don’t like going against odds on shots and Paddington is now 1.88 on the exchange.

I played safe and backed both yesterday to a get a 12% return regardless

Just a bitterly disappointing line up, no matter how you bend or shape it.

Paddington for me. I wouldn’t bet too often at these kind of odds, but I’m going, so I’m holding out hope that one of the bookies on course sticks their neck out.

It’s a bit of a shocker this field, so I’ve went for the shock upset with West Wind Blows at 28-1

Somethings very wrong with racing when a horse can just turn up to finish last and collect £40,000 as here.
    good luck to all

Paddington 🐻 for me with a saver on Dubai honour as Haggas has his string in such good order.
But as I said earlier owners are a bit dim aren’t they.?
Maybe trf should club together one day land a tricast then buy a horse with the intent of running it in these small field affairs.

I’m a bit surprised paddington is odds on

It’s perfectly likely the 3yos he’s been beating are all someway short of open company group 1 level and emily upjohn ran a huge race last time

But does anyone really trust emily upjohn to run that well again in what could be a very trappy race and she does pull in her races

Dissapointing turn out but an intruiging one

If Spencer has his wits about him he should try and poach a lead on west wind blows and kick very early, might just nick it from the front

I think NH rules maybe changed after the 63 rated Gray Wolf River popped round Kempton to collect the Christmas Hurdle place money. Not sure about the Flat.

I don’t see why she can’t run well again.

Can see why Paddington is favourite, but shouldn’t be as much between the two favs as is currently.

Emily Upjohn and (just in case a soft lead) West Wind Blows

May have been a small field but a great race.
