Two game National winners there in the last two posts. SR denied a run at Aintree of course, which was a shame.

September 29, 2024 at 18:31 #1708775Not a horse but a jockey.
John Kington rode his last race at Market Rasen yesterday, finishing 4th in a Class 5 chase on Ginger Pointe for Danny Brooke. Who? What horse? For who? Yes, exactly.
I can’t see anything on the RP about him. Not famous enough, see? But jockeys like Kington, who work the circuit to little acclaim, riding in low-grade races and rarely at the big Saturday meetings, are the definition of bread and butter in the NH scene.
You can catch some of the interview on Racing TV at the start of the recording of the next race on the card yesterday – at https://www.sportinglife.com/racing/results/2024-09-28/market-rasen/821566/ferry-ales-brewery-prelude-handicap-hurdle-gbb-race.
John was the son of Robert Kington, who you may all remember as being a regular partner of the legendary Sonny Somers back in the 70s.

October 18, 2024 at 14:27 #1710114Standout? in size, perhaps, but not in ability. He was a very good racehorse, but hardly a great.

October 20, 2024 at 17:15 #1710480Popular 6yo Australian G1 winner Think About It suffered some sort of haemorrhage during a race at Randwick yesterday and suffered a fall so horrific that I am sure everyone who saw it assumed he’d died. Miraculously he not only eventually got up but walked back to the stables and is back home apparently none the worse. Immediately retired by his shocked connections. Jockey was instantly to his feet and ran to the horse’s head, which may well have prevented him injuring himself trying to get up prematurely.
October 20, 2024 at 17:55 #1710482I’ve been following it on Facebook, initially not knowing what had happened. I’ve been trying to find out more about him as he’s obviously a huge favourite down under.
