I have long since learned not to read too much into gallops, Gladders.
Remember Circus Ring?
Flying 2yo filly, IIRC won the Princess Margaret by the length of Ascot High Street.
By next spring, one or two negative rumours emerged and it was announced she would have a media-invited gallop.
Working with a couple decentish handicappers, Circus Ring “won” the gallop quite comfortably by a couple of lengths, and the well-breakfasted media returned to London to report all was well.
A week later, Circus Ring was withdrawn from the 1,000 Guineas amid much bemused head scratching.
I was later told by a stable lad in the yard that she’d been getting two stone from her gallops companions, it was meant to be a massive confidence booster after poor work and the plan had been for her to have bolted at least ten lengths clear.
The gallop told the yard – though not the spectators – she simply hadn’t trained on.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"March 26, 2023 at 19:55 #1641611A friend and myself have an ongoing competition between ourselves, where we bought whatever we wanted from the 2021 Tatts Autumn Yearling Sales, 40 yearlings in all.
We checked the catalogue, watched them through the ring and made our choices.
So far, out of 40 yearlings, 18 have made it to the racecourse as 2yo’s!!
In amongst mine that have raced have been Noble Style and Regal Honour.
Although Noble Style has done me proud and really boosted my points, I’m siding with Triptych, I really like what I have seen from Regal Honour. He needed all of the 7f to win at Newmarket and won’t have any issue with 8-10f.
As much as I hope I’m wrong, I don’t see Noble Style being effective at a mile. I don’t see it from his style of running and I think I’d be clutching at straws on his breeding.
March 26, 2023 at 20:58 #1641613“I’ve just run a search, and discovered that the above is my third post regarding the mispronunciation of Chaldean.
There are 1,121 results for the word Chezza.
Hardly comparable.”
How do you pronounce “Chezza”? Is it with the stress on second syllable, to rhyme with “Huzzah!”? Or is is “Cheese-ah” – as in “My mate Cheeza is a geeza”
March 26, 2023 at 21:19 #1641614Chezza once has a Council Estate (obviously) gf called Cheryl and all her friends called her “Chezza,” with a pronunciation that rhymed perfectly with “Nebukanezer” and that’s how Chezza says it if that helps?
But Gladders created the nickname (and has hilariously lived to deeply regret so doing) so, for the definitive pronunciation, ask old Professor Higgins over there near Ascot to tell you next time he takes a break from teaching the ITV Racing team how correctly to say: “The rain in Spain falls mainly on the Chaldean.”

May run in Ballysax

Easy: it rhymes with Lezza
March 28, 2023 at 16:49 #1641755I suppose that’s another way of explaining it!

April 17, 2023 at 13:51 #1644235Having been on chaldean at nice prices, once i figured out who the trainer was (lol) im amazed to see him still at 7s+ on the machine
Will be an easy winner of this, the ballydoyle pair, ones a sprinter, ones using this as a derby prep
Disappointed if he doesnt win
April 17, 2023 at 14:48 #1644249Chaldean and noble style look set to run in the greenham on Saturday
April 17, 2023 at 23:47 #1644326Paddy Power were offering 40/1 Regal Honour for the 2000 Guineas this morning which I thought was too good a price not to use the £10 freebet they sent me on.
If he wins The Fielden on Wednesday (currently 6/1) which he will then that price could evaporate to single figures. When I saw him win at Newnarket last season I thought he was the best looking horse Godolphin had in training and can’t wait to see how he has progressed through the winter.
Also looking forward to seeing Noble Style in the Greenham on Saturday.💞

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 20, 2023 at 15:42 #1644695Craven winner boosted the Chaldean form. :o)
April 22, 2023 at 14:55 #1644986Did someone mention Isaac Shelby on page 1.?

April 22, 2023 at 15:17 #1644999I must admit my initial reaction when catching the replay just now was to think it was just a weird race nothing got in to but Isaac Shelby was quite a bit quicker than the Fred Darling winner (which may have been a bad race in fairness) and he might be underrated because of what happened to Chaldean. You’d think the ground will be very different on 2000 Guineas day but he’ll get the mile no problem.
April 22, 2023 at 15:19 #1645001There was a late move for Isaac Shelby and he was lightly raced at 2 y/o suggesting likely improvement
