May 6, 2023 at 16:06 #1646788Chaldean won’t mind the ground. Auguste Rodin better on better ground even though he has stamina so who knows.
Rain ruined race.
May 6, 2023 at 16:07 #1646789I think they should water briefly after the Palace House, just in case it stops raining, to ensure “safe” ground.
Update: I’d say the time of the Palace House suggests it’s Soft as stated, not Heavy.

May 6, 2023 at 16:33 #1646799Likely because aidan trotted out his beautiful mover would prefer better ground
Like he does for all of his horses that win on soft ground

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 6, 2023 at 16:46 #1646809Pleased Chaldean won but a desperate run from Auguste Rodin.
May 6, 2023 at 16:47 #1646810Not sure I’ve ever seen a horse get a more desperate passage than Royal Scotsman! He should have been very close!
May 6, 2023 at 16:47 #1646811Race fell apart, but well done to those who stuck with Chaldean.
With this year’s older milers looking a bit “meh”, he could clear up over the trip.
May 6, 2023 at 16:49 #1646812For a moment I thought the runner up was going to sluice home but then started to run around and the winner has been a real professional and just galloped straight and true and really saw out the trip and was pulling clear.

Being up with the pace at Newmarket is a huge advantage
Most of the rest either weren’t fast enough or had to much speed
Fav got caught in a bad spot behind LBB who was predictably running like a sprinter pulling like a mustang.
