Where did the race fall apart glad? Everything ran to there 2yo form bar AR, the non stayers never stayed, the ones with the best form at the projected trip ran the best
Been a while since ive had a guineas winner that far out
May 6, 2023 at 16:49 #1646816Ta all.
wd winners.
May 6, 2023 at 16:51 #1646817Gladders can console himself in the knowledge that he at least pronounced the horse’s name correctly.
Chaldean was in my ante-post portfolio at 14/1, though I wanted others for more, and I put him up as the bet in the race on another platform elsewhere last night.
I’m a big numbers geek myself, but all ratings are guesses and I liked the fact horses he’d beaten had come out did won the Craven and the Greenham.
First time I ever backed a Classic winner that was “unseated rider” last time out – what a time to be alive!

Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
May 6, 2023 at 16:52 #1646820Well done ham…I thought he was going to try to make all but Frankie was so cool and had him nicely balanced coming up the hill. Was right about him being backed late..I got 7/1 and now that looks amazing.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 6, 2023 at 16:54 #1646821Well
Done ham, Ian, Mike and everyone else on.

I’m a little worried for the derby that he may have picked up an injury the run was so bad

I think that is going to be a theme this season. The Frankie Factor is always a factor – but it will be even more so this year.
Disagree that the race fell apart. The best horse won.

Yeah it really was atrocious wasn’t it, it’s not as though he hasn’t trained on, moreso he’s actually gotten a lot worse, so clearly either wasn’t as fit as the trainer thought or something amiss.
May 6, 2023 at 17:01 #1646827AR travelled well but when push came to shove there was absolutely no response from him at all – you would like to think that they find something wrong with him to explain that abysmal performance.
Could really throw the Derby wide open if they don’t find anything wrong with him.

Hope not, hopefully it was just the mud.

The two horses with the best form both failing to give their running; Royal Scotsman meeting trouble in running; rags finishing second and fourth, including a 125-1 shot who might well have won had he kept straight.
May 6, 2023 at 17:06 #1646834The race fell apart because the bloody rain spoiled it! … A bit like having a nice soup and then a large blob of pigeon **** drops in it.
May 6, 2023 at 17:43 #1646863You have to question the form with 2 huge prices horses in the first 4 , winner can only win though
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
May 6, 2023 at 17:55 #1646867There was a touch of the Glory Awaits (same trainer, of course) about it but Royal Scotsman and Dubai Mile make me think it might have been an ok renewal.
I actually think it might turn out slightly better than last year’s race.
Some decent Guineas are less obvious than others.
Gladders rightly points to 1971 and 1984 but Night Of Thunder’s Guineas didn’t strike many as a quality contest on the day yet the form worked out insanely well.
Really enjoyed the race this year.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"May 6, 2023 at 19:47 #1646897I backed Chaldean but I’m of the opinion even at this early stage he just handled conditions the best, the 2nd and 3rd have done so much wrong and not been beaten that far, but to be honest I suspect most will treat it that way and Chaldean might still be a half decent price next time. Time will tell of course. Very unsatisfactory outcome from a racing perspective as we don’t really know if half these horses are any good, if they’ve trained on etc
May 6, 2023 at 21:13 #1646923One possible factor I haven’t seen discussed here is the “special arrangements” that had to be made due to the Coronation for the colts who finished 22 lengths 12th and 24 lengths last of 14 today.
How well did that go, do we think?
Bearing in mind Meditate tomorrow faces the same and on Derby Day the early race start will necessitate yet more of these marvellous “special arrangements.”
Beaten by a King and a ***king Cup Final – Ballydoyle’s Classic 2023?
