Auguste Rodin 18-1
July 5, 2022 at 09:21 #1605315The Queen’s Desert Hero was impressive on debut.
By Sea The Stars out of an unraced Dubawi full sister to Hardwicke and Yorkshire Cup winner Dartmouth.
Value Is EverythingJuly 5, 2022 at 11:07 #1605328I know it was unlucky in running, but I can’t have a runner up in a 2yo summer maiden at 18/1 for The Derby.
Possibly a bad example as he never ran, but I got 33/1 Gorytus for The Derby after he’d won the Acomb Stakes by seven lengths and broken the 2yo track record on his debut.
These ante-post quotes are derisory.
Desert Hero has only won a Maiden, but the pedigree screams middle distances and progression so at the 33/1 I saw just after Haydock he’d make more appeal.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"July 15, 2022 at 12:49 #1607037Classic making his debut in a moment 50/1 for this
up against Bresson who was 2nd to Victory Dance in his last race so up against itGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
July 15, 2022 at 15:23 #1607055100/1 Classic after that
I thought it was an encouraging effort. Doesn’t scream Derby runner as yet but I wouldn’t entirely rule him out of Hannon saying he’s the best I’ve ever trained when he gets off the mark..

Full brother to Irish Derby and St leger winner capri won quite nicely on debut today
Could be promising
No bet but one to watch
July 29, 2022 at 10:36 #1609290Classic wins tomorrow and get slashed but into 50’s
Tarjeeh who won on Classics debut had previously had a run and got beat by AL Karrar who yesterday finished 2nd in only his 2nd start in the Richmond against Royal Scotsman
Classic had a slow enough start on debut met with a bit of trouble but ran on well hands and heels and was closing all the while. Hes still got another 7 furlongs on top in distance to be seen at his best.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
July 29, 2022 at 17:53 #1609360Hannon at it before he’s won a race…

“He didn’t get any kind of run on debut at Newbury on his debut so was an unlucky loser and he’s a colt we think an awful lot of. His dam is the only offspring of George Washington so there’s a nice story to it and I think this horse is the real deal. I’m hopeful he could live up to his name and develop into a Classic contender.”

July 30, 2022 at 13:26 #1609504From that Classic looks more a Guineas horse having travelled supremely well.
Only a maiden today but the winner The Foxes looks a good Derby prospect. Half brother and has better conformation than the stable’s Group 2 winner Bangcock. The Foxes didn’t travel anything like as well as Classic and will be better at middle distances next year. Balding has been placed in the Blue Riband with 2nd and 4th in both 2022 and 2020… And unusually bullish about this one.
Value Is EverythingJuly 30, 2022 at 13:32 #1609506Classic would be lapped in the guineas
he will travel supremely well in the Derby
Hannon would have started him at 5f or 6f if thinking he’s a 3 y/o miler
things can change and horses can get faster as they progress so never say never but never a guineas horse for me
not when Hannon has the guineas winner Persian Force in the yardGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
July 30, 2022 at 13:54 #1609516Persian Force has imo looked one of those exceptionally well built early two year olds, Nathan. Already grown into his considerable frame and others will probably improve past him next year if not before. Shows a lot of speed too and I’d quite like to see him run in the Nunthorpe! Is entered.
Value Is EverythingJuly 30, 2022 at 14:08 #1609520Persian Force is running in the Phoenix Stakes next apparently so there is a gap between that and the Nunthorpe if they do decide to go that way.
I think he will be relaxed enough to use his speed to his advantage in a guineas
I’m sure there are plenty of others with better credentials for the guineas likewise with Classic for the Derby but that’s why they are priced at 25’s and 100’sGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
July 30, 2022 at 14:28 #1609524He’s a dubawi so not one to give up on as hes bred to be better next year but he looks a long way off right now
Didn’t travel like a middle distance horse though and isn’t bred for it either really
July 30, 2022 at 14:29 #1609525By Dubawi out of a George Washington mare.
Can’t see Classic staying the Derby trip, especially with the way he travelled today at 7f.
Appeared as if (this year) will be equally effective at 6f judged on that run.Can see him improving quite a bit though. Not saying he’ll be “classic” material but may well be Group class. Didn’t really learn anything from a tenderly handled debut and didn’t know what to do once coming under pressure today.
Value Is EverythingJuly 30, 2022 at 14:38 #1609528He’s a baby. Green as grass still, yet has showed promise
Balding is waxing lyrical about The Foxes, saying he told the owners to give him a good name as he is going to be better than Bangkok. Yes, he will improve but Classic has plenty of potential based on his two runs. Certainly group class.
I see Pat Dobbs has gone home. Has Hannon sacked him…
