Starting off as a sports and not a racing paper was a major error and not just in hindsight, then stating it was a competitor to the RP, no wonder the Post didn’t reduce it’s price.
Should have tried to replicate The Sporting Life.

Being off the pace ina slowish race wouldnt be that clever.
Didn’t do Rail Link & Pride that much harm, in fact the time wasn’t that slow, they went a sensible pace.

Thought it was a very uninspired ride, he looked to lack the confidence he has shown when riding him in Japan, had him far too close to the pace and wasn’t what you would call power packed in the final 2 furlongs. Didn’t get beat far and would have gone much closer with someone like Frankie on top imo.

You’re having a laugh surely? What is she doing in front of a camera? I’ve rarely seen anyone less suited, she must be friendly with the producer. Her titbits are laughable.

He changed the spelling of his name some years ago for whatever reason but presumably not by deed poll and they would have to use his legal name.

It’s not often the handicapper’s proved wrong is it? Look at Rainbows Edge today, the "experts" on RUK said he was thrown in with a pitchfork and Junipers Girl badly handicapped and look what happened.

This horse has been very well placed by his owner, seem to remember when he won at York Channon wanted to go for a far lesser race a few days before.
I would take a second in The Niel and a win in a German G1 anyday rather than the unknown of The Leger. Just shows trainer doesn’t always know best. Not bad for a 30 grand yearling.

Quote: from Venusian on 7:54 pm on Sep. 13, 2006[br]If the police are going to focus on the Balinger Ridge race as a key part of their investigations, then Fallon has nothing to worry about. Whatever he may, or may not, have done in other races, that ride was 100% cock-up, not conspiracy
What worries me is that the likely court case is not going to prove anything one way or the other, and will just be a mess. The police seem to be utterly clueless, no wonder the crime clear-up rate in this country is so appalling.
If someone’s going to ride a crooked race are they going to try do it in such a way that it is obvious to any Tom, Dick or Harry it was crooked or will they try to do it skilfully eg hoodwink people into thinking it was all cock up rather than conspiracy?
They may well be but how do we know all the police are utterley clueless on the subject?

Is that the reason they do it ap?
Two wrongs don’t make a right, if that’s the case they should have more races for older horses only but 3yo’s should be treated fairly in the races they are allowed to enter.

Don’t know about that Gus, think Willoughby is slightly more knowledgeable about the subject than Haigh.

What is the reasoning supposed to be in doing the runners by weight allotted rather than rating? it’s illogical. If 3 yo’s are allowed in the race they should be treated the same. It’s one of a number of anomalys concerning weights that don’t make sense.
Don’t seem to remember Patavellian getting a run in The Bunbury through this anomaly.
As there are races confined to 3yo’s so there are for 4yo’s plus.

If there was nothing wrong with the horse for Beverley they could have withdrawn without penalty due to the ground rather than pay £55 for a "vets".

These 48hr decs have a lot to answer for.

I like SwallowCottage don’t understand why they would be interviewing someone who’s put 25 quid on a loser:o

Green Green Desert, they thought he was a world beater and he was impressive when he won first time out.

Withdrawn horses isn’t much of a problem at Chester as has already been pointed been pointed out by Galejade, you get the odd one or two high drawn withdrawn but the prize money usually encourages them to run, keep the prize money up and you will get the runners despite the draw.

As for Beverley, I think they tried it for one meeting were nothing was conclusively proven, there was certainly no complete reverse of the bias, for some unknown reason they aborted the experiment after the one meeting.
