its a shame rumplestiltskin has been sent to the paddocks i thought she had the scope to be one of the best fillies for a long time

October 17, 2006 at 21:19 #80444I saw a report somewhere that Alexandrova is not going to the Breeders Cup.  Any confirmation of that Aidan?  Is she definitely staying in training next year?
October 17, 2006 at 22:40 #80445Yeah she and Dylan Thomas have been put away for the season.
Aidan – How did you find out about the sales of Ace and Marcus Andronicus?
October 18, 2006 at 20:29 #80446I dont know where Ace has gone, just left the yard.
Alexandrova definately misses the BC and stays in training next year as has widely been reported.

he hasnt gone AWOl has he?:o
October 19, 2006 at 09:14 #80448I was told that Ace had been found a place at stud – but my source isn’t too reliable at the moment!  Coolmore plans are still in flux for next season right now.
I wouldn’t want to send Rumplestiltskin to Galileo – although he has had success with Danehill mares already (most obviously Teofilo), her dam’s side doesn’t seem to gel with the Sadler’s Wells line, producing mainly ropey hurdlers.  The trend in the dam line at the moment is to send fillies to AP Indy, but all the produce are too young to see the results yet.
Medicean would be an interesting one.  He’s had 5 FORA so far out of Danehill mares, of which 3 have won, including Nannina and Regional Counsel.  Two Group winners out of 5 isn’t a bad effort.  The downside is that the foal would be inbred 3×3 to Mr P, although obviously this would be the same problem with Hawk Wing.
Giant’s Causeway looks a much nicer cross on inbreeding, 4x4x5 to Northern Dancer, but none of GC’s blacktype horses so far have been from Danehill mares, only 2 ordinary winners, which isn’t a great FORA/winner ratio.  Still probably looks the most likely candidate out of the Coolmore stallions though.
October 19, 2006 at 10:14 #80449Good stuff Sal, shows what I know about breeding:(<br>I was thinking of the Teofilo link and thought they might go for that.
