might well take you up on that one elcartero(Steve)..thanks for the invite.
JJM is probably reading the book before he has to part with it, maybe he’ll pass a few tips on to us as consolation prizes
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...Totally agree El Cartero but don’t understand the scoring system.
I think Nathan Hughes with his fantastic nap MARGOT DID should be the winner
, but can’t get my head around the scoring on 2nd’s and 3rd’s etc.
Can anyone explain how the points are calculated on the winner, napped choices and placed horses
Totally confused.
Jac

No winners Des but had a great day at HQ, shame I put Winter Hill in as my reserve by mistake and should have been Nordic Sky, but at least I backed him and a couple of others today…well done to all with winners…see you next week, looking forward to the Nunthorpe, and seeing Midday and Twice Over running next week.
Kieron Fallon had 4 winners at HQ today and I backed 3 of them, he is absolutely flying..
************Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...Moehat thank you for bringing this to our attention it is absolutely shocking.
I knew things like this do go on but unless those who do this on a regular basis can be brought to account it will continue and more horses will suffer.
You just feel so helpless, surely someone knows a way to stop this wicked and cruel processing of horses that could be rehomed especially in a country as big as America.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...Well done Columbus great nap…
All at Newmarket Des as off to HQ later, here goes for a great days racing ahead:-3.15 ….. DISCOURSE

Reserve: 2.40 ….. COPS AND ROBBERS

(Replacing my NAP Lastroseofsummer who didn’t run)Columbus…Striking up a commanding lead now…well done
great tipping..Great Day at HQ today managed to back Classic Punch in the first and Danvilla in the marathon 2 miler, but didn’t manage to put them in the compy…Jac

For those who backed Pekan Star in the first and wondered about his bad run, he was a negative in the paddock and looked edgey and off colour, Classic Punch on the other hand looked fantastic and is getting as popular with the racegoers at HQ as his brother Persian Punch, as he loves winning here..great day, great people and bashed the bookies, well done to all with winners today…
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...I remember that Dean Gallagher after the fatal fall of musica bella in the great steeplechase de Paris 2009, was devastated and decided to stop his career. he said she died in my arms.
I loved this jockey.Soumillon is very hard with the horses and took scandalous conduct with horses, he likes the cracks that do win. I hate this jockey.and it is very unsympathetic and arrogant!!
Frankie and Fallon, I can not judge because I see them less but I find there very very good jockeys, now I do not know their attitude with the horses.
Kinane , riding george washington during his fatal crash :
That day, I cried, I saw that something was wrong because in the last turn, all horses passed him and I hoped that jockey stop him … but not … he ‘s pushed again and again until the fatal accident … I hate this jockey and all the jockeys that push horses beyond their limits ….From the day George Washington perished in the mud I blamed Aiden O’Brien and the Smith,Magnier,Tabor partnership for taking him out of stud and running him there. Kinane was under orders and cannot take all the blame. They should have withdrawn him as soon as they saw the mud and the fact that under it the ground was like concrete. I have never forgiven O’Brien for what he did it was a sad day for racing to see a horse suffer so and I will never forget George Washington, I loved that horse.
As for Frankie he is getting more arrogant as he ages, I doubt he thinks of the poor stable lad or lass that goes home with an empty box at the end of the day.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...For me it has to be
Taqleed
…I’ve followed him every time he has run and last time out at Newmarket he went off 5/2 favourite in ground and trip to suit and finished a disappointing 5th to Club Oceanic with Tiger Reigns, Demolition and Classic Punch filling the places.
Just noticed that he is running in the 1st race at Newmarket on Saturday in a virtual rerun of the above race bar the winner and now has been fitted with a first time visor, will I be following him?…well my bookie is hopeful that I will
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...This is old news really as Mike and Emma have ‘seemed’ to be an item since they went to Dubai together last year for Channel 4 after her split with Jamie over a certain lady jockey.
Whenever Hayley Turner wins a race it is always Mike Cattermole that does the interviewing…wonder why
I like them too and don’t mind the flirty banter, but wish CH.4 would concentrate more on the horses in the paddock than taking us to National Trust houses or putting ‘Jocks’ in fast cars or testing their golfing abilities.
While on the subject of CH.4 Racing..can someone please tell Tom Lee to stop calling beautiful thoroughbred horses ‘Creatures’
when he is summing up or previewing form…has he looked in the mirror lately.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...NO WINNERS DES…but you certainly made up for last week with a great nap Hoof It..well done you and everyone else lucky enough to find winners today.
Midday saved the day for me bookie wise, what a great race she ran…see you next week..Jac x
PS: RIP..Captain John Nixon and all good wishes for a quick recovery to Ryan Moore, who would definitely rode a better race in the Stewards on High Standing than Chris Catlin
Thankfully Verdante, Activate and Jamie Spencer all survived what could have been a very nasty incident.
********************************Hi Des..it all looks a bit tricky today, but here goes:-
2.20 Newmarket ….. WATNEYA
3.45 Goodwood ….. HIGH STANDING ((NAP))
5.50 Newmarket ….. BRAVO ECHOReserve ….. MIDDAY …. 3.10 Goodwood
Good luck all..Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...I’m almost positive that he’s ok, no notices on the fallen horses website and Racing Post have him down as being eased in the final furlong, so fingers crossed he will be back another day, thank goodness.
Such a sad day in racing having lost Rewilding, so pleased that he is OK.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...Saw the awful fall on the big screens at Newmarket, the gasp that went round the course said it all, poor boy.
Had taped the race to watch when I got home but deleted it now.
It is sad to lose any horse in any race, but to lose a horse with as much potential as Rewilding is devastating. RIP brave warrior x
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...I was there today and can only guess that Instance didn’t go on the ground. She seemed to be struggling at the 1 furlong from home mark where the dip meets the rising ground and apparantely it had got extremely boggy there and mud was flying from the 2nd race onwards.
As for Anoint who should have relished the grounds I can see no excuses and wonder why Murtagh held him up in the early stages of the race.
Another to add to the list should be Seal Rock who was well backed into 5-1 favourite but could only finish 11th.
