That’s a really horrible run from I Love Me and that’s my interest in her ended. Extremely disappointed by that. Amazed she went off at 11/10, was never a 11/10 shot.
I was at Newmarket today and would suggest don’t be too quick to write off I Love Me (Cape Cross).
She was well turned out in the Parade Ring but was swishing her tail a negative for fillys in my book for Paddock inspection.
Running against the colts she came up against Codemaster (Choisir) who had had a long lay off since last October. He was the pick of the paddock, a pocket version of his dad
I would give her another chance, possibly running on Good or Good to Soft Ground as she did finish in front of Masaya today who had previously beaten her by a length last October on the same course and distance.
There was a fierce wind blowing right across the course this afternoon and it would have taken the sails out of any horse that wasn’t at least 101% fit today.
Another day another dollar, it was a good run today under the circumstances..Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...No I think it should go to Henry Cecil followed by a Knighthood for services to racing and for having the best horse in training Frankel who turned the 2,000 Guineas into a procession…Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...Hi Des ..
Hope you are having a good week and all enjoying York and Newbury.
Have to post early today as off to Newmarket tomorrow early as having lunch there first, so here goes:-1.45 Newmarket ….. Con Artist
3.25 Newmarket ….. Glencadam Gold
WINNER 2-1
3.45 Newbury ……. TWICE OVER (Nap)
Reserve ….. 5.10 Newmarket ….. Fantasy Gladiator

Good luck to all..Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...Nice little favs treble today:

Miss Work of Art 1.30 York
Skip Along .. 2.50 Newmarket
Seal Rock ….4.00 NewmarketOne that could run a good race against Miss Work of Art at a big price is
Princess Banu currently 16-1 Ladbrokes
She lead all the way to win at Newmarket LTO and her form could be franked by Royal Blush 1.50 Newmarket who ran second to her that day. Got the impression that she is improving every race so good each way bet at 16’s or put her in the reverse forecast.Other choices:
Native Ruler … York 2.30
Izzi Top ……. Newbury 2.10
Dinkum Diamond….4.20 NewburyGood luck with your choices, I’ll not be walking under any ladders today..Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...Such a disappointment to see her trail in behind the field on Guineas Day, and the Hannon camp were so bullish about her chances before the race.
If the real Memory exits the stalls on Sunday she will be hard to catch.
Let’s hope she remembers what she’s learnt and wasn’t just trying to please the teacher…Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...Totally agree Jibsa you only have to look at what the unusually hot weather on Grand National Day did to Ballabriggs and a lot of the other horses who ran to know that hot days and firm ground are not good for the welfare of racehorses, and if they water it doesn’t help much and could make things worse if they don’t water evenly.
NH should take at least a 3 month break during June, July and August, the flat racing stables have to tone down during the winter with only All Weather courses available to them, can you imagine flat racing continuing through December, January and February.
I would like to see it revert back to the traditional NH and Flat Season as it was some years back…Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...Live reasonably close to Newmarket and The National Stud must be top priority on your list, but make sure you don’t clash with a racing day for this visit as it will be closed.
When you get to the town head for the Newmarket Horseracing Museum which is in the centre of town close to the old Jockey Club Rooms from here you can book a number of tours and visits to stables including the National Stud, they take you out in a minibus and the tours and extremely useful and informative.
You might also wish to visit Daleham Hall Stud owned by Sheik Mohammed and where he also lives when he is in Newmarket. You will need to contact the stud or the Newmarket Horseracing Museum to enquire when these visits might be. Here you will see New Approach (pictured on the day I visited) Dubai Destination, Manduro, Dubawi and Halling amonst other others, sometimes these stallions may be overseas but there will be plenty to see.
There are 4 race meetings at Newmarket in June which are held on the July Course at Newmarket racecourse as opposed to the Rowley Mile which is used in Spring and Autumn.
the 17th June which is an evening meeting with Jools Holland after racing (need to book for this one).
Saturday 18th June.
Friday 24th June (evening meeting with Texas after racing), and
Saturday 25th June Animal Health Trust Gala Race Day.You can drive up to Warren Hill and the Limekilns Gallops early morning to watch the teams of horses from the different trainers in the area, but you need to be there extremely early as they start at sun up, again the Horseracing Museum will give you extremely good advise as to where to be and when. If you take a drive up Warren Hill you will see on the left hand side Warren Place the home of Henry Cecil and fantastic team of racehorses.
Also go for a beer at the Bedford Lodge once home to Lily Langtry and now a very nice hotel just the other side of town. For tickets to the racing and lots of other information about racing and Newmarket visit this site

and here is the link for the National Stud for Booking Tours etc.

One things for sure you’re going to have a great time.

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...I think a big part of the reason Ryan Moore landed the Coolmore job was his ability to keep a poker face, he will never be a media person and I think it unfair to expect that of him.
As far as racing being unpopular, you should have been at Newmarket when Frankel won the 2,000 Guineas by 6 lengths, you could hardly move.
It’s horses like Frankel and Sea the Stars that bring people to the races, the jockeys are just there to represent the owners, take instruction from the trainer and go out there and win the race.
I doubt if anyone new to racing could name more than one or two top jockeys who ride horses but could rattle off a whole list of famous racehorses who have won Classics over the years..Ryan Moore stay just the way you are,one of the best.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...Hi Des,
Thanks for your email will get back to you later…=
Here are my three hopefuls for Saturday:-2.40 Lingfield …. Date with Destiny (3rd)
3.10 Lingfield …. Measuring Time (3rd)
3.25 Ascot …….. HAWKEYETHENOO (NAP) **WINNER** 15/2
backed him when I was at Newmarket on Sunday in the race won by
Pastoral Player and hoping he comes home today for my nap.
Reserve ….. 4.10 Haydock …. Bated Breath (Winner)
The compy is going great Des, shame we all went back to 0 points after leaving the other site, but understand why you did this and anyway there’s plenty of racing still to come up to Champions Day at Ascot on Saturday 15th October when you usually end the flat compy.
Good luck all…Jac

Well done to all who backed Hawkeyethenoo today, what a great win, got my loses back from Newmarket on Sunday, thank you Hawkeye
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...In my opinion Ryan Moore is anything but dull, he is one of the best jockeys around today and has always been known to be on the quiet side.
This demeanor fits in so well with the Coolmore operation where nothing is given away about the chances of a horse until it has left the stalls. Aidan O’Brien himself is a very quiet and personal man but there is none better at getting a horse fit and ready just in time to harvest those Group races.
So many jockeys are over bullish about their mounts, i.e. Richard Hughes on Memory in the Racing Post on Saturday and punters are hit where it hurts most, others just want to please the crowd like Frankie and he is a great ambassador for the sport, but Ryan Moore is a true horseman and professional through and through
and I wish him well on his way to another Jockey championship in 2011. As long as he brings those horses into the winners enclosure he can be as dull as he likes, the man is a genius.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...Will look out for those and best of luck:
My double tomorrow would be:-
1.45 Chester … Captain Bertie
2.55 Chester … Nathanieland for a Lucky 15 I’m adding
2.20 Chester ….. Distant Memories
3.50 Goodwood …. DeityAll fingers crossed..
JacThink the ground was too firm for some of these today, Nathaniel in particular has a very high knee action and will do better on softer, also Distant Memories.
Deity, definitely not suited to Handicaps…. Oh well that’s racing….
better luck tomorrow
Great 16-1 winner Kburza that doubled with Dubai Queen would have given a pretty fair return.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...Hi Dess
Great to see so many of us from YA have found a ‘new home’
As I going to Newmarket tomorrow I’m posting early so here are my 3 horses, all at Newmarket (of course):-2.00 ….. PROPONENT
2.30 ….. DANDINO ((nap))
4.20 ….. SEAL ROCKReserve: 3.45 … IVER BRIDGE LAD
Good luck all and great to be here
..Jac xxHey EL (Prestbury) sadly didn’t dream of Frankel winning but didn’t he do the business today, the best Guineas I have ever seen..amazing..hope you all got on and won a mint. The bookies were looking quite miserable packing up to go home tonight.lolx
Had 3 winners there today Dandino and Seal Rock both brilliant races, the Dandino/Native Ruler finish was heartstopping what a fighter Dandino is.
Off to the 1,000 Guineas tomorrow and I HAVANT a clue who will win must have lost my MEMORY…lolxx Good luck and great compy Des..Jac xOver2u…Ocean War looked amazing in the paddock, well done with your nap..I had some nice bets on my selections too.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...Newmarket on 2,OOO Guineas day, and any other day of the year.
Seeing some of the best thoroughbreds in the world parade in front of you close enough to touch.
The excitement of watching your horse coming with a late run down the outside to win by a nose.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...When you do get in touch, could you say a big thank you from me for all the work she put into the fan club? It was such a special time of my life..I felt as if I was living out some sort of a dream, because I really felt part of what was happening. I just want her to know how grateful I am for that.
I certainly will and you felt exactly as I did.
The first time I saw Dessie I felt so honoured and humble to be in his presence, my daughter was very ill at the time and I gained great strength from him. I have so many pictures, paintings and Royal Doulton ornaments of him and also the Dessie newsletters that Midge used to send us updating us on what he was up to
Also was an avid follower of the great One Man that you mentioned, he was another favourite grey, so sad that we lost him before he could fulfill his potential. I think that there is a photo of Dessie with him, I know there is one of Dessie and Milton the showjumper and also one with Lester Piggot on board. My daughter was lucky enough to sit on Dessie’s back at one of the open days for a photo. That picture taken by his horsebox is a treasured possession I couldn’t believe it when Richard Burridge lifted her up onto him, it was a real tonic and Midge still asks after her even today.
Keep in touch always happy to talk about ‘himself’ and wasn’t it great how they used to get all those cups out on the table at Ab Kettleby and let us all touch them, and all the videos running up in the barn of his great wins and Midge’s dogs getting under everyones feet..lol
Great days…If you do have Midge’s address I’m sure she would love to hear from you herself and if you don’t I could always give it to you but not sure how we exchanged email addresses on here as new to the site. Jacqui xThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...I also belonged to the Desert Orchid Fanclub and used to go to Ab Kettleby and listen to Dessies Jazz Band in the garden. We all used to queue up to stroke Dessie and Midge used to run a raffle where I was over the moon to win a plait of hair from Dessies mane.
I still have a little contact with Midge (only by Christmas Cards) and sadly she is not in the best of health at the moment and also her partner John is fightening ill health too.
The last time we saw Dessie was after he had gone to David Elsworths new yard at Newmarket, he was at the National Stud holding his last open day 6 weeks before he died. Jim his faithful groom, Janice Coyle and Colin Brown were also there.
We never realised we would never see him again and I had tickled that lovely pink nose for the last time.
Dessie was the most wonderful horse and as you say the Burridges shared him with all of us, there will never be another like him, he is sadly missed, but his memory lives on.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...How sad to read today of the passing of the great Sadlers Wells, his big white face a characteristic he passed on to his progeny, and his lovely temperament, he will be sadly missed, one of the great stallions of our time.
His Sire Northern Dancer was the son of Neartic whose dam was sired by non other than Hyperion himself and here’s hoping that Frankel sired by Sadlers Wells own son Galileo can pay the biggest tribute to him on Saturday by winning the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket and going on to achieve greatness just like his grandad.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...Forgot to mention my Avatar is New Approach, photo taken at Daleham Hall Stud where he currently stands, just after he had won the Derby. Also standing at the time were Manduro, Dubai Destination, Dubawi, Halling and Singspiel (now sadly departed). The stud went out of their way to make sure we saw all the stallions and of them all Halling was the sweetest, we almost got left behind with him as he was enjoying having his nose tickled.lol
Looking forward to the new flat season and hoping to find lots of winners.
Jac
