We get criticised because of the negative threads on TRF so here’s something positive.
What are your three favourite things about UK racing?
Mine –
The access that the public have to their heroes.
The way I see people enjoying themselves so often when racing.
The Derby.
April 28, 2011 at 19:57 #352602Good horses, tutored by good people, battling each other to win a good race.
The endless opportunity for polite conversation, learning and disagreement.
The spectacle: the colour, the movement, the action, the speed, even the backgrounds are often stunning.
April 28, 2011 at 20:20 #352609The Adrenalin.
The Narrativium.
The Craic.
April 28, 2011 at 20:21 #352611Anticipating upcoming big races.
A Day at the Races – unbeatable entertainment.
The heritage, intertextuality, culture and ironclad tradition of horse racing.
April 28, 2011 at 20:57 #352621A close finish grabbing your attention in a race you weren’t really watching.
Being able to get close to your heroes. And they never let you down because they can’t speak!
Watching a season unfold be it jumps, flat or AW.
(Cheers Corm, sorry about the Tweet)

The Derby – THE greatest racing ocassion in the world to me. Nothing gives me a buzz like Derby Day.
Racing UK – How lucky are we to have such a devoted channel with such superb people on it?
ATR – Nowhere near as good as RUK for raceday coverage IMO but has some really good other programmes like Sunday forum.
The racecourses – Again, we are incredibly lucky to have such varying types of racecourses with their own characteristics.
OK thats 4 but I never was any good at maths.

The smile that creeps across my face very time Mark Johnston says "always trying".
The sudden onset of 1-6 minutes of pure adrenaline.
A day out with my dad and grandad.
April 28, 2011 at 23:59 #352638Newmarket on 2,OOO Guineas day, and any other day of the year.
Seeing some of the best thoroughbreds in the world parade in front of you close enough to touch.
The excitement of watching your horse coming with a late run down the outside to win by a nose.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 29, 2011 at 01:52 #352644The roar of the crowd.
The "any given Saturday" moment when an underdog gets the upper hand.
Steeplechase tailgating that makes college football look like a quaint country picnic.

The ecstacy of victory and the agony of defeat – equally addictive;
Pattern Flat racing
April 29, 2011 at 07:24 #352649Royal Ascot (& its tote pools!)
The sheer wealth of top class horses.
The green of the turf & sunshine – so much a better background than the beige bits & drab days of AW racing.
The Arc … Derby day … 2000 Guineas … Glorious Goodwood … Ebor Meeting … Chester … What will that new Champions meeting be like?
April 29, 2011 at 07:38 #352652You see Corm?
