Yes Jac. Fair play to ITV cameras for capturing Impaire Et Passe’s groom’s joy at leading him back. A touching moment in a grim day.
I agree Griff11. The horse had clearly lost his action. If the man who was riding him couldn’t feel what everyone else could see, he shouldn’t be riding. Often you see “rider looked down as if something was amiss” in reports of horses pulled up. Townend never stopped riding to check the horse was OK. In all my 50+ years of watching racing, it was the most sickening thing I’ve ever seen.
I have noticed that several horses reported deceased have “found to be lame post race” after finishing their final races lately. Don’t recall this being an issue in the past. Perhaps racing authorities should be concentrating on educating jockeys to pull injured horses up rather than harping on about the whip or tinkering with fences.
Picking up from where I left off at Cheltenham (bottom of the table!). Here goes…
1.45 Trustintimes (Act Of Authority)
2.20 Doyen Quest (Gold Dancer)
2.55 La Conquiere NAP (Baron Noir)

5.15 Sherminator & Rubber Ball (Melon)1.45 Minella Study (Mange Tout)

2.55 Impaire Et Passe (Protektorat)
3.30 It’s On The Line & Fairly Famous (Golden Son)
4.05 El Fabiolo NB (Brighterdaysahead)
4.40 Stencil (Sans Bruit)
5.15 Brave Lady (Seven Stars)Shelightsupmylife also fell in that race after seeming to go wrong. Hope she’s ok. Both fillies having their first ever race.
Star Appeal in the Arc. 118-1. Sadly only had a shilling each way but it was a fortune to a 13 year old at the time. I’d also backed him in the Eclipse (20-1 I think). Sadly all downhill since then. Peaked too soon!!
I’m sure breeders no longer listen to his rubbish. End of the day, it’s the horse’s record on the course that matters. Henry Cecil wasn’t known for bigging up his horses. His comments about Frankel made us all sit up but if the horse hadn’t backed them up, we would have dismissed him as a deluded fool. Aiden does it every year…
Anyone relying on ITV coverage alone for their racing knowledge would think the horse is irrelevent. All about “the ride” apparently. Makes you wonder why people pay millions at the sales!
Presumably because Moore won’t give Chapman the interview he wants if CH wins and no interview at all if he doesn’t.
I imagine there are a lot of dodgy conversations taking place in the Middle East at the moment and an awful lot of money (and more) on the table. If such a bet was available, I’d be lumping on it going ahead without incident (though also possible that it will be cancelled at the last minute because negotiations haven’t gone as hoped).
Agree LD73. Even if the meeting isn’t targeted, any escalation could mean trainers, jockeys and horses are stuck there for some time. Wonder who will be happy to gamble missing the start of the European flat season.
Sorry for the loss of your friend Nathan.
Agree. Envoi Allen couldn’t have won today. He wasn’t even pulled up when stopping quickly and getting tailed off. If you know a horse is ready for retirement, retire it.
Ruined the day. I always hate it when they announce that a horse will retire after the race.
1.20 Highland Crystal NAP (Maestro Conti)
2.00 Ooh Betty & Sinnatra (Wilful)
2.40 Diva Luna (Panic Attack)
3.20 Thedeviluno (Spinningayarn)
4.00 Gaelic Warrior NB (Haiti Couleurs)
4.40 Solitary Man (Stattler)
5.20 Fiercely Proud (East India Express)😂 as if!!
Probably. Couldn’t be bothered to search for it though. Sorry!
