Last year 47,000 attended “ladies day” at Aintree with help from the half price ticket offer for Tatts.
This year is a sell out 55,000? Despite price increases and no half price offer.
How has Aintree pulled that off?

I am not sure but it is a hugely popular day in Liverpool. I am surprised they had to offer half price tickets last year.

Maybe the half price offer worked and loads of them decided to come back. Others perhaps considered it a preferable option to Cheltenham.

There’s your answer. A reminder that not all of us whose age starts with a two or a three are teetotal, gambling averse puritans.

Are they going to turn up at Plumpton on a Monday in January? Probably not but it’s something.

All desperate to meet Dickon I shouldn’t wonder.

The Racing Post had a front-page story about how young women were out at the races purely to meet young men.

If my memory is correct, said “men” had to to be tall, muscly (sic), with nice teeth and tattoos.

    Fortunately, that rules me out.

This is why we no longer buy the Racing Post. It’s not even true. Young people apparently look to “the gym” to meet prospective partners. That certainly rules me out (as if…).

I’m not sure if that’s more offensive to men or to women.

Don’t be silly, Richard: we all know that real men grab women by the p***y.

Oh well, to paraphrase Meat Loaf, one out of four ain’t bad..

Tattoos are the first thing that puts me. Some of the women were dressed quite nice during the festival but then they had arms full of tattoos. Totally off putting IMO.
