Sad news. R.I.P. Nicky
You deserve them for organising it Nathan. It’s good fun but I don’t think any of us ever seriously expect to win anything! Have a good time
Loved Floyd. Even called my cat after him! So sorry to hear that he didn’t have the retirement he deserved. I never heard that he’d died. Happy memories though
Great news

That’s sad news. Do you know what happened to him?
GH never really settled even after he stopped pulling, but I wouldn’t rule out that he’s been beaten by a better horse on the ground and on the day. It was the first time in a year the filly has run on ground with cut, also, her owner is no braggart or fool, and he had a strong belief she was well up to this class. Time will tell.
Agree. Also the winner had pulled very hard in her previous races. She did today initially but seemed to settle much better once she got a lead off the pacemaker. Possible that others ran below form on the ground but she’s still improved and it’s too soon to write it off as a total freak result
Best bet in this one has always been Gleneagles not running….even before the rain
It does seem like a busy schedule for a 2 year old by a stallion who only managed to stay sound for 3 races
Golden Horn is clearly a class act and an impressive winner today. However, I think the Racing Post’s claim that he “hammered” The Grey Gatsby is a bit insulting. “Outstayed”, certainly. “Outclassed” perhaps…
Hard to believe I know but I even detected an anti racing slant in the report I saw in a BBC news report on the death. No mention of dressage but “an accident jumping whilst in training”. While the sports reporter was clearly clueless on the subject such ignorance from the national broadcaster is shocking.
Not all that hard to believe. On Derby Day the red button news bore the headline “2 horses die in race”. Actually nothing to do with the Derby, or horse racing at all (Appleby Horse Fair as I recall). I don’t know what’s going on with the Beeb but somebody clearly has some serious issues
Sad sad news.
Nice to see that my friend Canford has sired a decent one as I was beginning to think he was becoming a dud
Bit harsh Nathan. I’ve been hoping he’ll make a good sire too and have noted that some of his have been quietly doing ok without setting the world on fire yet. Seem to improve with each run so hopefully he’ll come into his own later in the season. Bournemouth Belle ran ok in what looked like a nice race at Newmarket today too
