I’m not sure it would even be physically possible.
I tried taking a ‘short cut’, as the crow flies between the 2 – took me twice as long as round! :D

You can get Mankini’s on Ebay.

No, they didn’t – and your rudeness was especially inappropiate given that your interest is entirely self-promoting since you are very likely to try and sell them on a horse of your own instead.

Some things just shouldn’t be said.

    a) I have nothing to sell for racing.
    b) I don’t believe in leasing which is obviously what they prefer.
So infact, you are also being pretty rude with your insinuations. I just have a dislike to people being taken for a ride, and if there is a possibility of such I will always point it out.

Yes, you are right – but someone had to point out the possibility.

Isn’t this the 3rd filly in a row though(or am I confused with someone else)?
It is great that you are educated enough to expect to lose money, but leasing fillies means you are paying for someone elses benefit, even if it doesn’t work out.

IPerhaps one solution would be for the BHA to impose a levy of say, 5% of all prize money to go towards re-homing projects. But would owners support it?

As there is little prize money as it is, and a percentage is put on top of every entry fee for the same purpose, i’d guess not.

It is mostly a load of nonsense. We all know things go on, and they always have – but their facts are completely wrong.
Not enough foals have been born yet this year to say that ‘lots of people’ have been putting to sleep.
Can anyone name me a NFNF TB stallion without Googling?
The biggest outrage is SM. She is closely connected with Animal Aid, yet she expects the racing industry to support her (she rang me up wanting box rests/pre trainers a couple of summers ago).
I believe 2 prominent figures in racing are the patrons of her charity.
It is a total joke, which I stated in my email to ATR this morning (I thought sending one to the DM would be a waste of time).

Have you ever considered that you may be getting done over?

The horses i’ve seen jink out at Exeter have always been towards the stables, yards before the paddock.
Do people propose they should move the stable block?
Its the same for all of them.

The hormones should have worked their way out of his system after 6 weeks, so sounds as though you need to look elsewhere.
As he is older, was he put right out to castrate? If so, could ahve pulled his back about (especially the poll).

They do have gait analysis machines, generallly used to detect lameness (ie, waste of money if you know what you’re on about).
I guess it could be customised to going preferances, but again all horses are different – I have known one or two who would knock their teeth with their knees and still wanted it firm.

The request for cortisone is obviously a ‘patch him up and run him at all costs’ attitude.

Weight has no relevence?. So do scientists not include wieght in any work that they do, weight is one of the most important things on this earth, along with sound oh but I guess horse’s run with no gravity

It is my understanding that scientists work within strict controls, which you cannot compare to racing as every horse is different.
Big yards do tend to weigh their horses, for one reason – half the time the trainer isn’t there to look at them. The weight of a horse may give a trainer a reason to have a close look at the animal, but I would put money on the fact that weight has never infuenced running plans alone.
A better indication of fitness is a blood test. Just imagine, every horse tested when they arrive at the track, rush them through a mobile lab and you’d probably have them in time for the first! Apart from the fact that it would cost thousands to do every race/horse, it again would be a waste of time as horses are so variable!
Perhaps weight should be recorded. Along with a condition score, height, build and bone. Then you might just get a true picture of what the weight actually means.

I would love for horse weights to be published everytime they ran, then people would quickly realise it is a waste of time and stop whingeing about it.
Thin and fit are two completely different things, some horses actually put on weight as they get fitter.
Horses also change from year to year, so what could have been a ‘winning weight’ for a horse one year, could be completely irrelevant the next year.
Some horses don’t need to be fit to win, if they won when well in the weight of the horse would again be irrelevant.

What happens to the Wilson horses after they have their 5 minutes of fame?

Where are Contraband, Azulejo, Marble Garden, Turnium, Astonvile, Present Bleu etc now?

Sold on to good homes and / or sent point-to-pointing. Contraband was at Black Forest Lodge on the first day of the new amateur season last month.

I think you are giving too much of an impression that the owners give a sh#t. They get sent to the sales with unrealistic reserves. I tried to buy Turnium at Donny (who I believe went pointing in Ireland), and was told £2000 or he goes to Paul Murphy’s. £2000 for a horse that is blind in one eye, broken down on both front legs is too much, however good the horse was(who was absolutely lovely and for not much trouble would have found a good happy hacking home for £1500).

Perhaps studying Gemelova’s last rides would be a bonus to the investigation  .
