I guess the vet would be sawing the leg off for the insurance company.
TBH, I would prefer the money that would be spent on a ‘posh’ knacker wagon(or new horse ambulance), to go towards horses that are still alive.Harry Findlay has just been arrested at Doncaster………
Apparently the families haven’t been informed yet, so best you delete the names.
I heard today he was only bidding on horses to pi55 off a certain neighbour of his, which may explain things
.TBH, if Tim Vaughan schooled them over 20 hurdles a day for a week, that would be adequate to run and probably more schooling than a lot get all season. Some are more natural than others, may just be that these all are!
IMO juvenile hurdles are bordering on cruelty anyway, and horses running in them straight off the flat is not something I enjoy watching – they are horses that invariably need a break. Instead they underperform on the flat as too weak, run shite over hurdles as they are knackered, and end up on the scrap heap before they are even mature at 5.
As for buying specifically to run in sellers, hes just trying to play the numbers game before the big guns come out.About time someone talked some sense.
I know this is probably a daft question but do horses in, say, eventing wear a different kind of shoe to the lightweight racing plates that horses have, therby having a bit more grip?. I realise that this wouldn’t make any difference if the ground was unstable in any way.
Eventers tend to wear studs that are screwed into the shoes – imagine steel football boots for horses. Impossible for racing, horses would dig holes in themselves due to the speed, and holes into any horses or jockeys they go over on the floor.
Do you think Symonds might put off applying for his own license for a while
?Regarding the obigatory donation rise. Why should owners who DO care about, and provide/sort out after racing care for their horses fund those who don’t?
Not all owners are made of money. Yet it is those that aren’t who mostly ensure a good life for their horses.
Educating owners is the key, far too many go into it blind without a clue and are led astray by money grabbing trainers.NOT LONG ENOUGH, MAKE IT A YEAR AND HAVE DONE WITH IT, THEY NEED TOO MAKE AN EXAMPLE OF HIM.
CHEATS NEED DRUMMING OUT THE SPORT…
Agreed.
The Cheekster – when precisely do you expect Worcester to stage fixtures if it should give up summer racing? The whole reason they started leaving out the winter fixtures was because too many of them were abandoned, usually through waterlogging.
A few abandoned fixtures are better than running out of horse ambulances by the second race because the over watered ground is sh#te.
It’s not as if they provide no water at Worcester ever. There are always buckets (plenty of) provided in winners enclosure, pre parade ring and washing off area just ouside the vets box.
I don’t buy that somehow the taps just stopped running – the media have blown this aspect up out of proportion.
Happy – the coolest place you will find for a horse on a hot day is in the back of a moving horse box, upon all the vents up and you create drafts galore. Different story if you get suck in traffic though
.The only plus side is, a lot of horses were saved a ride home with various limbs strapped together. That is assuming they had made a hash of watering as they had at the last meeting.
I love Worcester as a lovely fair track, but I think they should give up on the summer game.Paul Struthers has apparently said that racing was abandoned on welfare grounds, rather than because there wasn’t enough water.
Are the two not clearly related?Yes, although the one was being used to correct the other in this instance.
I hope other racecourses will take note.
ALTHOUGH FLOOR TO CEILING DIVIDING WALLS IN STABLES ARE GREAT FOR THE FIGHT AGAINST CONTAGIOUS DISEASES, THEY HINDER AIR CIRCULATION. SORT THE VENTILATION OUT.
This goes for every course which has built new stables over the last 5 or so years.Happened at Worcester severeal years ago. Stewards enquiry was called, but can’t remember anything being done.
My colours are white with red hollow box, checked sleeves and checked cap.
I’ve been looking to name a 2yo of mine, and Batty Crease, Hobdayed and Pinfired are all available.
ETS, as is Abitontheside (I already have one called Abitofargybargy). Probably going with Unlucky.Grass growth takes the moisture out of the soil, making it quicker. Thjats why i’m not so sure about using them on busy tracks.
