I personally think Winker Watson is better over a shorter trip, i dont think a mile are the best conditions for him.

Will be interesting to see how Nahoodh carries on from his good win last time out at Newmarket.

You may be right about WW as sire is very speedy but there is stamina on his dam’s side.

Gaz, has Nahoodh had a sex change?

    …………….but that was drug-related, allegedly…….and that doesn’t count.

    Colin

Why’s that then, the OP didn’t specify why they were thrown out. :?

I think they will use the horse to ensure a slow pace tomorrow which will play into the hands of Duke of Marmalade.

I would be amazed if the proven stayers let them get away with that tactic as they may as well not bother entering the stalls.

As for RRC they will need to find a GR3 for him to get off the mark.

Re the Sussex, it really looks like Henry’s race to me. However, does anyone else think that Major Cadeaux has a ‘major’ place chance? His form this year has been consistent and progressive, but I suppose there is a big doubt about his getting a truly run mile, especially against this opposition.

I agree about HTN and Major Cadeaux could be placed. It will be interesting to see how Winker Watson runs to compare the form with Tamayuz who beat him a fair way though it was his first run for a year and he did lose a shoe.

Nureyev was disqualified in the 1980 2000 guineas and sadly never raced again after contracting a virus, Aliysa was disqualified in the 1989 Oaks.

Looks a very nice type but a bit early to be touting him for the 2000 guineas just as it was the filly he beat for the 1000 though interestingly they are both by Galileo out of dams whose pedigree has more speed. If he’d run in the Phoenix it would have told us a lot more.

He can’t, you can’t really use the adjective in that way. But my grasp of the English language could be wrong. Good post though Max.

What about the term "oligopoly" being used in racing context?

I think monopoly is probably more appropriate bearing in mind AOB current track record. :)

I don’t buy this talk of 3yos needing a break at this time of the season or that 10f is more fashionable as a bunch of them ran less than 2 weeks ago in the Grand Prix de Paris. Perhaps they thought they weren’t good enough to take on their elders and this race has imo much more prestige for a 3yo who will be retired and go to stud than the GPDP. Imo this year’s crop of 3yos apart from NA & HTN don’t look anything above average and the former would have run in this race but for being injured. I think it is a dearth of high quality middle distance 3yos that is more to blame as after all they also avoided the Eclipse this year.

As for the French they have never really bothered with this race very much.

Ramonti is withdrawn due to a recurring hind infection.

I think you mean leg as opposed to his involvement with a female deer.

    A great pity though.

Lord Admiral has to give King of Rome over a stone.

I guess AOB will have some idea of KOR’s chance as Lord Admiral was beaten 3l by Plan last time out. Not a race I would bet on.

I think the ban expires in November, perhaps he will renew his Anfield connection and team up with Michael Owen.

The only one of AOB’s runners who is proven over 12f is Macarthur and on form Lucarno has the beating of him. The rest have obvious stamina doubts so they will want a slowly run race but I don’t think the stamina horses are going to let them have that. If DOM doesn’t stay then there are others in this race who look to have better chances than any of AOB’s other runners.

They have recently had a pretty lean time of it and their modus operandi of buying seemingly very good horses out of other yards is not really working out. I think they need a re-think.

John Gosden believes this race has become exclusively for older horses and the Grand Prix is now the key race. He is quoted as saying "This is around the time you want to hit the pause button with three-year-olds and hold fire until September, looking towards the Arc and the Breeders’ Cup." and "You might go for the Eclipse with a horse who didn’t stay in the Derby, but the Grand Prix will get the best 12-furlong horses."

The bit about taking a pause with 3yos is nonsense as the races are less than 2 weeks apart. It strikes me all he is really saying is owners & trainers now tend to avoid taking on the older horses over 12f with their top 3yos at this stage of the season and wait for the Arc and the Breeders Cup.

Penny’s Gift looks a worthy favourite but cramped odds so I would suggest Caranbola ew. A form line through Aspen Darlin gives her every chance with the favourite at levels and she gets 2lbs.

He really ought to win this provided he handles the track and the ground isn’t soft. The biggest danger looks Ramonti if back to his best.
