RIP Celebre d’Allen. You will not be forgotten.
“Only ignorance! only ignorance! how can you talk about only ignorance? Don’t you know that it is the worst thing in the world, next to wickedness? — and which does the most mischief heaven only knows.
Thanks for the updates on Broadway Boy. That’s the best news.
I do think there may be a slight case of making an example of Nolan, but it did end up being exactly what Aintree would not have wanted spectators to see – an exhausted horse collapsing within sight of the finish. Falls are somewhat unpredictable, heat exhaustion on a sunny April afternoon not so much. The jockeys do get reminded of this.
RacingTV saying that both horses walked onto the ambulance. That’s cautiously hopeful for Broadway Boy considering.
His rider Tom Bellamy also taken to hospital though. I think we missed that in the live coverage.
Hope both horses and Tom are ok.
Broadway Boy and Celebre d’Allen being evaluated apparently. Was it Celebre d’Allen who pulled up quickly towards the end?
ITV cut fence 25 from the replay as well, right decision even if the horse survives, nobody needs to see that again.
Great finish.
But I feel sick after watching Broadway Boy’s fall.
“What happened to the fav who Ruby said could have 20lb in hand??.”
Ruby didn’t count on me backing him I guess. Finished out with the washing like all my other bets today. Sorry folks.
I take it back. They jumped ok, no massive pile up, and one of them only won.

“I hope there is going to be no team tactics from the Closutton contingent.”
Call me cynical but why else enter three runners that have never jumped a hurdle in public before?
If they are there to bounce off in front and set up the pace then I just hope they can jump reasonably fluently and not cause a pile up at the first.
So sorry to hear this. I saw What’s Up Darling trot in after the race but hoped the other horse might be getting walked back. RIP Springwell Bay.
This is getting ridiculous.
Did not have that outcome on my bingo card. Well done to the Golden Ace team for having the courage to go for the big one.
I think In d’Or would be a lot shorter with a pro jockey on board but this is what Maxwell buys his horses for and it’s not his first rodeo so I’m happy to take a chance (admittedly a small one) on him in this. I also like Gericault Roque if he is back to something near his best.
I remember thinking it looked a nasty fall and was very relieved to see him up afterwards. It seems he has been even luckier than I had thought.
He is a very memorable and handsome horse, so I hope they continue to post updates on his recovery (and retirement should that be in the cards).
Devastating news, he was just 24. RIP Michael and may your memory be a blessing to those who loved you.
IHRB reporting today there is no change in his condition and he remains in intensive care. Poor lad. All my best wishes to him and his family, but this really isn’t sounding good.
I saw an interesting thread on X about treating various leg infections in horses. The author is (allegedly) an equine vet, but is not Sir Gino’s vet, so it should not be taken as confirmation of any specific injury.

Horses are such fragile beasts. Really hoping this boy pulls through.
I haven’t contributed much of late but greatly appreciate the forum, members and discussions. Happy New Year everyone.
