Broadway Boy and Celebre d’Allen being evaluated apparently. Was it Celebre d’Allen who pulled up quickly towards the end?

ITV cut fence 25 from the replay as well, right decision even if the horse survives, nobody needs to see that again.

Broadway Boy’s being assessed on course they’ve just said. Can’t believe he’s survived that fall. Horrible memories of Roll a Joint back in the day.

Hope Broadway Boy and Celebre d’Allen are alright.

What a storybook ending for the owner and his late wife.

To me the Grand National is not the same race at all.The changes have made it more dangerous, not less. They go flat out for 4 1/4 miles, they jump through the fences not over, its an unpleasant sight. It is no longer a race I look forward to watching.

    WD winners

Someone told me a few weeks back that they’d bet the soon to be winner Grangeclare West.

I thought he had no chance but to be honest, a better jump at the last and he probably wins it. So unlucky

Probably I’ve been yapping about him all year to anyone who would listen.

Well done anyone on the winner he was great. And the jockey gave him a good ride too.
Never seen Willie so emotional. Think the family never really got over Tony being jocked off Dawn Run.
Patrick, your daddy loves you ;-)

    Red Rum says

My early bet on this was STUMPTOWN but after analysing yesterday’s BobbyJo decided to add NICK ROCKETT and INTENSE RAFFLES

Undecided about PERCEVAL LEGALLOIS whose attitude to racing is a real plus for me.

In the end added on Perceval Legallois, later added Threethrutofive and Vanillier.

Then today’s bet after consulting timeform added Three Card Brag and 10 places for Duffle Coat.

Stewards Enquiry into the riding of Celebre D’Allen.

I wish they could also haul Venetia Williams and Rich Ricci in and ask them why the hell they ran Royale Pagaille on ground which was clearly unsuitable for him. :negative:

The anti-racing brigade have already killed off poor Broadway Boy, but we can but hope he will be ok. It was a horrible fall but nothing to do with the course or field size or fence design as far as I can see. Although there will be a review in any event, I do not see anything the authorities can be criticised for or can do in future. Celeb d’Allen was clearly a case of exhaustion and hopefully he will fully recover.
If we want to eliminate falls ,and the risks of fatality, then all you can do is get rid of steeplechasing. That is the reality.

There were a few who looked like they hated the ground. Intense Raffles and Coko Beach were never travelling from the start

Yes, CAS. Royale Pagaille, and also Hitman and Bravemansgame deserved better than their career stats suggest.

Today’s fall wasn’t a nice sight but that sort of fall was much more common years ago. As a spectacle is 100 times better than it use to be imo

Sounds like good news on Celebre D’Allen as he apparently walked into the horse ambulance. Heard that Broadway Boy got up too though is still being assessed but don’t know how accurate that is.

I’m not sure its more dangerous. I take the point about them not really needing to jump the fences and I’m not in favour of that at all but there were double figure horses in contention coming to sort of 2 or 3 out where in nationals gone by you’d be lucky if that many were still in the race at all by then. That has to be a good thing as a spectacle and to keep those once a year punters interested in the race.
