Nice article about 15 yo Goldream who was retrained as a therapy horse by New Beginnings after retiring from the track.

Re: winner likely to be disqualified – it’s due to whip rules. Jockey hit him 10 times, 6 permitted. 4+ over merits dsq. Review is to be published Tuesday and Manxman will be promoted if guilty. Seems slam dunk tbh.

You’re not wrong, Quelle Farce, about the moral battle and some that stay with you. What a moving tribute to Francky, may he RIP. And on another note am sorry to hear that his death caps a bad week for you and your family, hope that things look up for you soon.

They might as well give it a shot. He’s not unbeaten so there’s nothing to lose in that respect, but it’d be something different to have in the trophy cabinet if he pulls it off.

Poor old Hans. He had one job and CoT didn’t even need him. Ryan obviously having fun up front today.

I hadn’t thought about the steroids angle, but the timing of her being put down almost immediately after foaling certainly could look rather suspicious in that light. I would like to hope we’re just reading too much into the wording of the statement. But…

Poor girl, that must have been so painful with the weight of the foal as well as her own on those dying hooves. It sounds like it progressed quickly. RIP.

WD Jac for keeping the faith with See The Fire, I thought for one moment she might get there on the line for you but hoping you did back her ew as you mentioned.

Excellent use of the cutaway with the horse’s turn of foot.

This is absolutely shocking, what is wrong with some people. I am so so sorry for his loss and the trauma of walking into that scene.

“Isn’t Unquestionable at least part or mostly owned by Al Shaqab? Certainly runs in their colours. Can’t see them letting the horse be a sacrificial lamb for Henry Longfellow.”

He is, but his past few runs have all been declared alongside River Tiber so I’m pretty sure Coolmore have that role in mind for him generally. Who knows who calls the shots in these partnerships. He was also declared for the Commonwealth Cup over 6f and I think if they were actually trying to win with him he’d go up in trip not down.

It looks like Romeo Magico could not be saved after picking up an injury in the Mayo National at Ballinrobe on May 27.

RP comments: “Towards rear, some headway into midfield 7th, weakened quickly and pulled up after 3 out (jockey said gelding pulled up injured).”

He had been running respectably in hunter chases (6th in this year’s Foxhunters) and seemed like a nice prospect for the yard.

RIP Romeo Magico and all others lost recently.

I don’t know whose is best, but Luke Morris must be a strong contender for the worst. I wince every time I see him ride a finish.

A rare misjudgement from Moore I think. The last three were quite detached turning into the straight and Rubies Are Red still got to within half a length of the winner with that flying run. But normally, that’d be the right call if you think they’ve gone too quick up front and it did almost pay off.

Great performance from You Got To Me who could have faded tamely once Danielle and Treasure came to challenge but just kept finding enough to stay ahead.

Bryony will be riding as retained jockey for Munir and Souede in France. Hope she does well for them.
