Thanks Mike. RTB, you’re right. That’s how a British Guineas winner should run.
July 31, 2024 at 15:48 #1703424Cheers Mike.
The more I know the less I understand.
July 31, 2024 at 15:51 #1703425Excellent use of the cutaway with the horse’s turn of foot.
July 31, 2024 at 15:56 #1703427Much was made of the weakness in the market of Notable Speech.
I wouldn’t have backed him this morning @ 7/4 / 2/1, because of the doubtful pace – would not have wanted him in last place today because of the lack of a front runner. However, NS does have an excellent turn of foot whereas Henry Longfellow was already crying out for 10f before today, so a slow run mile (even with positional advantage) may not have suited Henry. Even with the positional disadvantage, there is a price where Notable Speech becomes value.
Yes, Notable Speech was weak at Ascot, but many of Charlie’s horses ran poorly there.
But ITV did not mention Notable Speech was also very weak in the Guineas and won – when Charlie was in good form…
And he is in good form now too.Value Is EverythingJuly 31, 2024 at 19:42 #1703454Advised at 8/1 after the St James Palace stakes
didn’t bet a penny myself though…
