This is all a bit of a charade isn’t it.

Jordan Gainford checking himself after saying he rides out in Elliotts 3 mornings a week after the winning interview on the Shunter, ”Cullentra house” (Elliott doesnt even live in the house because its so cold) being talked about like its some mythical place where people have randomly gathered to train Cheltenham winners.

I despise the photo but Gordon Elliott has trained 5 winners so far this week as of Thursday evening making him the leading trainer at the festival as it stands

All it needed was a one liner on the first version

For all the well wishes and tributes there will lkely be nothing written on why the Aga Khan and Tsuis moved horses away from Oxx.
Not to suggest there was any serious misdemeanours on Oxx’s part, however somewhat vacant to suggest someone is a master trainer yet not explore why they are unable to make a living from the sport, if it was Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger or Pep Guardiola would the narrative surrounding their demise be so vague ?

Unless you can offer an explanation on how you failed the France Galop / WADA threshold of 50 ng/ml in your urine sample I’m not sure how convincing your innocence would appear in a court / hearing
Not wanting to take up the ”Dr Ferrari” position of explaining away in competition doping but I’m thinking of cyclists who used pre approved steroid based gels masking the use of other substances which showed up in dope tests or the use of an inhaler (which I believe Oisin Murphy requires) which has been noted by some other cyclists as an explanation for certain discrepencies in testing that were accepted by authorities

The purpose of the test is so you don’t have to take someones word for it, is it not?

This is all about stemming the tide of the deaths and getting the NHS to cope.

The concept of losing any part of the flat season is something that is anathema to myself, until put into context. Stemming the tide of death, even if just a small ripple, is essential when lives are at stake

The July meeting on the other course is a pretty cool few days to attend if ever heading back. I’d recommend it to anyone interested in horse racing or otherwise who wants a relaxing day out in a nice environment.
The one thing that struck me about Newmarket was the vastness of the training grounds and courses, the town is no great shakes, but the rest is definitely worth a visit, its pretty close to Cambridge if traveling by train too

The warmth of blood from the todays betting butchers floor wont and shouldn’t be the medium to warm the heart of any people owed a payout from a dodgy bookmaker. The gambling regulators need to ultimately hold Dedcert accountable for those legacy bets

Ive heard it said in a few places that Racing TV gave Ricci a free pass but not sure why people can’t seperate the kick in the teeth of owning a last hurdle faller at the festival and being a poor bookmaker. Was the immediate post race really the moment to call him out for weaseling away from honouring bets of the company ? Fair play to him for going on TV even if he was rambling vacantly

This is like when a football team buys a player off one of their rivals, not because they need them, or that they are any better than what they have already, or that they add value to the starting eleven, but because having them, and their rival not, will simply weaken the opposition.

The idea that Irish racing will have its own specific red button type online channels is also strange, while all courses should have their own individual broadcast, if it is being limited to one or two tracks then why isn’t it the main meeting of the day on it, so say for instance Sandown today ?

Will be interesting to keep track on the the level of exchange trading on Irish racing over the next cpl of months. In general, the betting volumes appear to be quite a bit below the corresponding trade vols seen when going up against the UK based meetings, including, say, last weeks Wolverhampton AW card which was also shown on ATR.
The lack of accessible race replays prior to 01 Jan ’18 is quite a regressive step to begin on and something which should have been ironed out prior to the switch by HRI

”a fast paced experience…”, do publications like the RP not question marketing BS like this before publishing it ? I know the answer is no but its worth saying nonetheless

RTV are really putting their Sunday best on for the first day with two presenters at both Tramore and Fairyhouse. I’d be throwing that Tramore card straight onto the internet channel regardless of there being any potential clashes with the other cards or not

Having had a sizeable bet on Enable in the one race of her career where she did get beaten, as a stable second string to Shutter Speed at Newbury, I would unashamedly be inclined to place a heavier weighting on the ”going unbeaten” element of horses careers when comparing overall greatness
